    Now that the summer is over we are starting to see alot of interesting submissions coming through. The fall is always an active time for galleries and a great time to shake off the lazy days of summer and get back to focus.

    Now is a great time to plan your fall and initiatives and find some good contests or art calls to enter.

    It is important to note that although we mail out "featured" art calls a several times a month to our mailing list, there are still lots of regular art calls being submitted daily to our opportunity database. It is a good practice to login often and see what is new. If you are "free" member who is serious about searching for income and exhibition opportunities, we feel that it is highly worth the low annual fee to upgrade and be able to search and save your favorites.

    The National Juried Exhibition promotes an appreciation of the visual arts, enables artists to exhibit their works and allows local citizens to enjoy a wide variety high-quality art from around the country. Since 1986, the Cultural Arts Center, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has presented hundreds of exhibitions of works by more than 1,500 artists. All artists 18 years old or older are eligible to submit original paintings, sculpture, hand-pulled prints, drawings, photography developed by the artists, fiber and original glass creations. Film, video and crafts developed from molds or kits are not eligible. A non-refundable entry fee of thirty dollars ($30) for current CAC members (annual individual membership is $20) and forty dollars ($40) for non-members, qualifies the artist to submit up to three works and will be used to promote the show. Submission does not guarantee acceptance. Purchase Award of up to $1,000 determined by our Gallery Committee. First Place - $500; Second Place - 300; Third Place - $200; Two Honorable Mentions - $100. Sales will be encouraged; 25% commission will be taken on all work sold with the exception of the purchase award. For more information

    The Center for Fine Art Photography announces a new call for entry for its annual Art in Nature main gallery show. The Deadline for submission September 15, 2009 midnight PST online.This exhibition will on display December 4, 2009 till January 9, 2010 with a public reception on December 4 in the evening.The theme for Art in Nature can be seen from the subatomic to the cosmic. It can be raw, powerful, serene, destructive, fertile and delicate. This exhibition will illustrate all aspects of nature.Eligibility: The exhibition is open to photographers world wide, both amateur and professional. The Center for Fine Art Photography invites photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought to participate in its exhibitions. Experimental and mixed techniques are welcome. Juror: Kathy Moran is National Geographic magazine's first senior editor for natural history projects. A twenty-seven year veteran of the Society, Moran has produced projects about terrestrial and underwater ecosystems for the magazine since 1990. At last count she had edited over 135 articles for the magazine. Recent highlights include editing a special edition of National Geographic magazine "100 Best Wildlife Photographs". She was also project manager for the NGS/Wildlife Conservation Society's award winning collaboration of photographer Nick Nichols and Dr. Michael Fay's trek across Central Africa. The resulting articles were the impetus for the creation of Gabon's National Park system. She was named "Picture Editor of the Year" for her winning portfolio in the 2006 Pictures of the Year competition. Moran believes that

    The City of Blaine, Washington is seeking artists to create two site specific public art pieces for the new Lighthouse Park Water Reclamation Facility.Blaine is uniquely located in the northwest corner of Washington State at the Canadian border nestled on the banks of Drayton Harbor and Semiahmoo Bay. Vancouver, British Columbia is 35 miles to the north and Seattle, Washington is 110 miles to the south. Visual arts play an important role in the community and drawing tourists here. The Lighthouse Park Water Facility is a state of the art water reclamation facility currently under construction. It will occupy approximately one acre of Lighthouse Park, a waterfront park with views of Semiahmoo Bay and White Rock, BC, Canada immediately to the north. The proposed art pieces will enhance the public's experience on the site and create a sense of place. Artists may apply for one or both art projects:Project A: Create suspended artwork to enhance the main entrance of the water reclamation facility. Project B: Create an art piece that will become the face of a wall viewed through cascading water to showcase the cleanliness and clarity of the reclaimed water.A small group of artists selected for the second phase will be asked to provide a more in-depth project description in order to select the two final art pieces. The art pieces will be installed by the facility's grand opening scheduled for June 2010.

    BOOTS TO HEAL, from Souls who Care... is providing help to Kids Kicking cancer by hosting the 2009 National Juried Cowboy Boot Fine Art Competition-Event Sale. This event benefits The Children's Cancer Hospital at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Open to Artist must be 18 years olds or older and reside in the United States. All works submitted for consideration must feature the image or images of the COWBOY BOOT as the main focus. Work may be photorealistic, representational or abstract. A $35.00 entry fee allows each artist to submit 1-3 images. A $5.00 fee for each additional image submitted. Awards will be presented in each category. There will be a Best of Show and a special "Soul of the Boot award.". All works in the show must be for sale. 60% from the sale will go to the artist. 40% will go The Children's Cancer Hospital at M.     Projekt30 is taking submissions for our November 2009 publicly juried exhibition. We are an artist-run arts organization dedicated to promoting emerging artists. The exhibition will include thirty artists; invitations will be sent to over 30,000 galleries, collectors, and fellow artists. Visitors have the option of contacting any participating artist with feedback or opportunities. As of Nov. 2008 over 200,000 messages have been sent to participating artists. All artwork submitted will be presented online prior to the exhibition so visitors may help select which artists will be included in the exhibition. Unlike other juried exhibitions, all participants receive exposure. Opens: November 1, 2009. Public Jury: October 15-29, 2009. Fee: $40 for up to 10 images, though the fee is waived for Projekt30 members and artists who use Projekt30's web-hosting service.
