PH21 Gallery presents: Personality: Contemporary Portraiture – A Curated International Photography Exhibition
Portraiture emerged as one of the most prominent genres of depictive media early in the history of the visual arts, and the tacit or explicit rules, conventions and cultural expectations have always influenced the ways by which artists approached the genre. Photography is no exception; numerous different and characteristic styles of portraiture emerged throughout the history of the medium. Today we live in an exciting new era for portraiture. There has never been a time in human history
when so many portraits and self-portraits were produced day after day as in the era of digital technologies. Photographers have responded to the cultural, social and technological changes by reinterpreting the age-old genre of portraiture, and it is always an exciting and rewarding task to organize an exhibition for some of the recent achievements in the field. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Personality: Contemporary Portraiture. We are
looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this genre, and who would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; from traditional fine art portraits to selfies, people may be portrayed in countless unique ways. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.

NYC4PA TREES 2021/22
TREES: Partridge in a pear tree. Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree. There are references to trees in music, literature, proverbs, etc. But they are also an iconic visual as a standalone item next to the house in a children’s drawing or in groups of every size from oases to huge forests. In the forest and the jungle they create whole environments. Standing alone on hillsides they create lovely shadows. Trees can be tall and straight
like a winter pine or bend in the wind. Limbs and branches create wonderful patterns against the sky. A tree will support a tire swing for a child on a hot day; provide sturdy posts to tie up the pet pup or hold a hammock off the ground, as well as support a backyard laundry line. In winter snow covered trees create beautiful landscapes.

DEADLINE: February 07, 2022
PH21 Gallery presents: Silence – A Curated International Photography Exhibition
Silence is always conceived against its opposites; sound, noise, loudness. Silence is strongly associated with loneliness and alienation, the unknown and disturbing landscape on the one hand, and the known tranquillity and peace on the other hand. Photographically, the contrast between deep darkness and dazzling light is also decisive. After natural or social catastrophes, everything falls silent; empty cities, villages, abandoned public transport and empty workplaces remind us for the
transience and fragility of humankind. Silence is accompanied by quiet activities such as contemplation and meditation, which negate the very nature of action itself. Silence is also often present in still lifes, cityscapes, portraits, and many other photographic genres. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for our group exhibition themed Silence. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who would like to share their silence experiences with a wider international
audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed without any photographic genre restrictions. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.
