PH21 Gallery presents: Stories: Narrative Photography – A Curated International Photography Exhibition
While photography is popularly associated with capturing the moment, it has always been a sensitive medium of storytelling as well. Looking at a photograph may allow for understanding much about the past that has led up to the moment frozen in time; it may also enable the viewer to imagine the possible future unfolding of events that may evolve from the still record of the here and now. Photographers portraying people, objects, and places can tell us inspiring stories, provided we take the
time to study and interpret the images. A narrative told in a single photograph is an exciting challenge for both photographer and viewer alike. Hopefully we appreciate these works with the care and curiosity they deserve. Encouraged by the success of our previous Stories exhibitions, this year PH21 Gallery invites photographers again to submit their work for our annual group exhibition themed Stories: Narrative Photography. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who think that
their work is telling a story and would like to share it with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; it may be expressed visually on personal or social levels, literally or in abstract, symbolic ways. Stories can be told about persons, communities, objects, and places as well. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.

PH21 Gallery presents: The art of photography – Barcelona – A Curated International Photography Exhibition
Although photography first emerged as a technological invention, it was also quickly conceived as an artistic practice as well. Pictorialist photographs in the nineteenth century were created to look like paintings, while advocates of straight photography in the first part of the twentieth century strived for the purely photographic means of creating photographic meaning. Street photographers devoted the medium to capturing the fleeting moment, while in the last part of the twentieth
century many photographers turned to staging and directing in order to utilize photography for artistic visual communication. Art photography also includes numerous genres and creative practices from portraiture, landscape and still life to abstract and conceptual photography. In this call we ask contemporary photographers to show how they understand photography as a fine art practice in the twenty first century. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition
themed The art of photography. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in photography as an art form and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; we welcome submissions from all artistic photographic genres and styles, including abstract compositions. We are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of what photography as an art form might
be.

NYC4PA CALL FOR ENTRY - DECAY CORROSION RUST
I got a brand new pair of roller of roller skates, you got a brand new key... So sang Melanie. Though we often focus on the new and shiny there is amazing beauty in the decayed, the corroded, the rusted and it can make images of those items so much more compelling and interesting. Consider the textures and colors in an abandoned, dilapidated factory or prison, the rust on an old bike, contrasting plaster and lathing on a corroded wall and the myriad of possible captures in a junkyard.
Neighborhoods, disparagingly called "run down", are treasure troves of "decayed" tumble down houses, "corroded" discarded toys, "rusted" cars, trash cans and so on. Decay, Corrosion, Rust.... can take many forms; black and white, color, abstract - all photographic media are welcome. As with all NYC4PA calls, all 2D photographic art is accepted.

PH21 Gallery: A/Symmetrical @ Rome – A Curated International Photography Exhibition
A PH21 Gallery Exhibition in Rome, Italy. We often have a strong preference for symmetrical forms and structures both in nature and in our built environment. We find symmetrical faces, bodies, objects and scenes beautiful, and many of our artefacts are designed to be symmetrical as well. Some of our likes and dislikes have biological roots, but much of our attitude towards symmetry and asymmetry is shaped along the lines of our culturally influenced aesthetic preferences and customs. As
much as we are drawn to symmetrical structures, we also appreciate or even expect asymmetry in many contexts in visual communication in general, and in photography in particular. Asymmetry may be central to the expressive content of many photographs. Symmetrical or asymmetrical compositions are often creative choices that significantly contribute to the appreciation of the meaning of photographic images. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed
A/Symmetrical. We welcome submissions from all photographers who are interested in the significance of either symmetry or asymmetry in photography, and who would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed as the significance of symmetry or asymmetry is independent of generic or stylistic constraints. We are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.

PH21 Gallery: Bodyscapes – A Curated International Photography Exhibition
The human body, in full or in part, is often in the focus of various photographic genres. From documentary, event and street photography to fashion photography and the nude, photographers have always found ways of constructing images in which the specific portrayal of the human body gains significance. This may be stemming from the rich layers of meanings determined and shaped by the specific socio-cultural context of the image, the visual interaction of the human body with the surrounding
physical space, or the intriguing compositional possibilities offered by the body itself. When focussing on the body, some photographers explore movements, study expressive gestures and postures, or concentrate on the beauty and details of the human anatomy. Some narrate whole life stories through the depiction of the human body. Others may offer stern visual criticism of our normative conceptions of the human body and its mainstream representation in Western media. PH21 Gallery invites
photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Bodyscapes. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this subject, and who would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed without any photographic genre restrictions. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.
