3 Square Art - CaRt22: Contemporary Art in Realism, 1st International Exhibition

In a sense it established a foundation for artists who painted realistically to be viewed as contemporary and innovative. Many Contemporary Realists Lois Dodd, Alex Katz, and Philip Pearlstein are still active today, and
their work continues to exert an influence. Realism is very much alive and is gaining renewed traction with artists and collectors. Modern artists approach their subject in a realistic manner using contemporary and fresh techniques. DEADLINE: June 27, 2022
PH21 Gallery: Significant Colour – A Curated International Photography Exhibition
A curated international photography exhibition. August 25 – September 17, 2022. There are two kinds of photographs with respect to the significance of their use of colours. On the one hand, ever since colour film technology became widely available, colour has become the default in most photographic practices. That is, some photographs are in colour not
because their colours bear some special significance (compared, for instance, to their possible black and white counterparts) but simply because the available film or digital technology has long turned colour to be the common method of capturing photographic images. We may think of these photographs as colour by default. On the other hand, colours are often central to the meaning of photographs for their emphatic, symbolic, psychological, social, compositional, etc. significance. These
photographs would not work in black and white the same way or they would not work at all; that they are in colour is not merely a technological given, rather, it is an integral, formative and significant aspect of their photographic meaning. We may think of these photographs as colour by significance. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Significant Colour. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in the
significance of any colour in photography and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery.

absence? What is made evident or alluded to by being concealed? Chiaroscuro is an international juried group exhibition open to photographers ages 18 years and older. PH21 Gallery: –scapes – A Curated International Photography Exhibition
There are all sorts of natural and artificial scenes that capture the attention of photographers, compel and inspire them to pause, observe and create an image for the sake of the scene and convey a personal interpretation of what they see. These types of photographs go by a variety of names; they are called landscapes, cityscapes, streetscapes, seascapes,
waterscapes, cloudscapes, or even desertscapes, treescapes, bodyscapes, and the like. Among these photographs the most successful ones go well beyond the mere recording of the visual qualities of a place as they bear the marks of the interpretive insights of the photographer. They make us contemplate a scene as meaningful and significant. For it is never challenging to merely re-present; it takes a novel conception of the scene to engage us, viewers, through the keen eyes and the creative mind
of the photographer. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed –scapes. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this subject and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed, as the photographic portrayal of scenes of the natural and built environment is independent of generic or stylistic constraints. Indeed, we are interested
in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.

PH21 Gallery: Portraits Without Faces – A Curated International Photography Exhibition
October 20 – November 12, 2022. Portraiture emerged as one of the most prominent genres of depictive media early in the history of the visual arts; tacit or explicit rules, conventions and cultural expectations have always influenced the ways in which artists approached the genre. Photography is no exception. Numerous different and characteristic styles of
portraiture emerged throughout the history of the medium. We usually assume that faces are necessary components of portraiture; we may, however, learn just as much about the character, the personality of a person by looking at images that depict other parts of their bodies, show us the objects or places associated with them. Not focusing on the face may open up a new dimension of interpretation. Our Portraits Without Faces exhibition is dedicated to this challenging divergence from the more
conventional approaches to the genre. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for our group exhibition themed Portraits Without Faces. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this theme, and who would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; submissions of all kinds of portraits without faces are welcome. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative
photographic interpretations of the theme.
