ARTIST OF THE MONTH WINNER Adam Ryan is an Atlanta-based artist studying painting and drawing at Kennesaw State University. Though his formal education has
been primarily traditional, Ryan enjoys working in digital media. His work is inspired by spirituality, meditation, trance music, and the psychedelic experience. Combining traditional painting with digital collage and glitch-art techniques, Ryan is focused on creating striking, complex, colorful, visionary works. Read more about Ryan and see more of his work on our Featured Artist of the Month page: https://www.theartlist.com/featured-artists/2022-adam-ryan
SECOND PLACE WINNER "My work expresses my conflict between the analog and digital world, with the slow and the fast, the old and the new. I like to experiment with conventional forms,
deconstruct them with code, and recreate them as new pieces. This challenges the viewer to see something new each time they look upon the work. Throughout history, we have been taught to paint and assemble something in a conventional way to make it art, but I’m pushing against that convention the same way technology is asking society to learn in new ways, to see and dream beyond itself, and to be comfortable with the uncomfortable." See more of Julian's amazing art here: https://julianpowers.com/
THIRD PLACE WINNER Christy Mandeville is a photographer from Florida. Christy captures those special instances that only last for a fraction of a second but live on in our
memories for a lifetime. Her entry to this month's contest, "Purple Rain", was captured on July 22, 2022, in Indian Shores, Florida. See more of Christy's incredible photographs here: https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/christy-mandeville
VIEWER'S CHOICE Laurie "Trumpet" Williams is mixed media & alcohol ink artist from Boyds, Maryland. She is a proud mother, an internet marketer, and a graphic
designer. As a child in Mississippi, she was inspired by her uncle David Gallagher's work, and created her website to showcase her work as well as her uncle's. See more of Laurie's art (as well as her uncle's) here: https://trumpetart.com/

| DEADLINE: September
12, 2022 PH21 Gallery: Shape @ Barcelona – A Curated International Photography Exhibition A PH21 Gallery Exhibition in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Shapes are one of the most important aspects of creative photographic compositions. Living beings and inanimate objects, including the
built environment come in many forms, and photographers often rely on the creative possibilities offered by their shape. While in some cases the images of things only have a depictive function, at the other end of the spectrum abstract photography concentrates on shapes and forms for their own sake up to a point when we can no longer recognise the depicted objects themselves. Between being either insignificant or the only significant element, the shape of recognisable forms may also be the
driving compositional component of an image. That is, the shape of living beings and objects may be of central importance to the composition of photographs not only in abstract photography but also in virtually all other photographic genres. These images capture our attention and stand out for their creative compositional form. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Shape. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in
this subject and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; we are looking for photographs in which shape is a significant compositional element, including abstract photography. | DEADLINE: September 12, 2022 3 Square Art - 100 Square Inches of Art 4th Annual

See color, see
shape, see forms or figures, portraits or abstracts. All in a small form factor that is perfect for a holiday gift or a special addition to your personal art collection. Thinking small encourages creative thinking and a sense of detail. How can working on a small scale help bring out your vision? How can a small art piece take on a large presence? How much art can an artist pack into a small space? Will the piece be 1” wide and 100” long, 10” x 10” or something else? Juror: Mary Jane Edwards,

| DEADLINE: September 19, 2022 PH21 Gallery presents: Time – A Curated International Photography Exhibition A curated international photography exhibition. November 17 – December 10, 2022. Time is a central concept in our lives, yet no one has ever seen it. It is the measure of our everyday life, but we rarely reflect on the fact that this fundamental organizer of our life is also a human creation. Throughout history, humankind has developed countless artifacts to perfect the measurement of time, documenting the cycles in nature, the change of the days and
seasons. The changes of our own bodies as time is passing by also confront us with our own mortality. In urban spaces, clocks and bells help us track the passing of time, so that we don’t miss the train, our date, or we are not late from work. It is peculiar that when we are having a good time, we feel that it passes faster, while when we are bored or are having a bad time for some reason, it seems to be passing very slow. Depicting the passing of time in a still image has been a welcome
challenge for photographers, as well as capturing a fleeting moment. Timelessness and eternity are also present in nature, in human life as well as in our built environment. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for our group exhibition themed Time. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this theme, and who would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. | DEADLINE: October 03, 2022 PH21 Gallery: Motion @ Rome – A Curated International
Photography Exhibition A PH21 Gallery Exhibition in Rome, Italy. Photography is a medium of still images; it cannot create the illusion of motion the way in which moving images such as film, video or cartoons can. The static nature of the image itself, however, has never prevented photographers from putting motion in the centre of their endeavours. Instead of freezing the moment they often strive
for capturing movement and the passing of time in a variety of ways. The fragile moment might be broken by showing the sweeping power of motion. Capturing motion is never a mere given in photography because it is not a default option of the medium. Depicting or expressing motion is a welcome challenge for photographers; it is also the source of some of the most creative images in diverse photographic genres. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed
Motion. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this most intriguing topic and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed, and it is independent of generic or stylistic constraints. We are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme. Please note that this PH21 Gallery exhibition will be presented in Rome, Italy, in collaboration with
KromArt Gallery and Centro Sperimentale di Fotografia Adams, a renowned Italian centre for photography. Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-motion-rome-22 |
