| DEADLINE: August 15, 2022 The Chateau Gallery - Call for Entries: Degenerate In 1937, The
Degenerate Art exhibition (Die Ausstellung "Entartete Kunst") was conceived and held in Nazi Germany, where party propagandists portrayed, mocked, and vilified the works of renowned modern artists as evidence of criminality and deviance. Nevertheless, the event was more popular with spectators than the accompanying state-sponsored exhibition intended to display the more classical type of art advocated by the regime. In the contemporary context, one could suspect a passionate photographer
possesses the means, motive, and opportunity to capture the debaucherous image. What is your interpretation of "degenerate," and how does your work oppose the blasé mainstream narrative preferred by the state and status quo? | DEADLINE: August 22,
2022 PH21 Gallery: Portraits Without Faces – A Curated International Photography Exhibition October 20 – November 12, 2022. Portraiture emerged as one of the most prominent genres of depictive media early in the history of the visual arts; tacit or explicit rules, conventions and
cultural expectations have always influenced the ways in which artists approached the genre. Photography is no exception. Numerous different and characteristic styles of portraiture emerged throughout the history of the medium. We usually assume that faces are necessary components of portraiture; we may, however, learn just as much about the character, the personality of a person by looking at images that depict other parts of their bodies, show us the objects or places associated with them. Not
focusing on the face may open up a new dimension of interpretation. Our Portraits Without Faces exhibition is dedicated to this challenging divergence from the more conventional approaches to the genre. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for our group exhibition themed Portraits Without Faces. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this theme, and who would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure
of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; submissions of all kinds of portraits without faces are welcome. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme. | DEADLINE: September 19, 2022 PH21 Gallery presents: Time – A Curated
International Photography Exhibition A curated international photography exhibition. November 17 – December 10, 2022. Time is a central concept in our lives, yet no one has ever seen it. It is the measure of our everyday life, but we rarely reflect on the fact that this fundamental organizer of our life is also a human creation. Throughout history, humankind has developed countless artifacts to
perfect the measurement of time, documenting the cycles in nature, the change of the days and seasons. The changes of our own bodies as time is passing by also confront us with our own mortality. In urban spaces, clocks and bells help us track the passing of time, so that we don’t miss the train, our date, or we are not late from work. It is peculiar that when we are having a good time, we feel that it passes faster, while when we are bored or are having a bad time for some reason, it seems to
be passing very slow. Depicting the passing of time in a still image has been a welcome challenge for photographers, as well as capturing a fleeting moment. Timelessness and eternity are also present in nature, in human life as well as in our built environment. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for our group exhibition themed Time. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this theme, and who would like to share their work with a wider
international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-time-22 |
