of our community. This month, we are thrilled to recognize a few fantastic artists who submitted their work to our monthly art contest: 1st Place: Keith Buswell, 2nd Place: Wendy Burr, 3rd Place: Licita Fernandez, and most audience votes Viewer's Choice selection is: Mark Warner. Congratulations!
- Speaking of our Artist of the Month contests, we ask that entrants please remember to
include a link to their website along with their submission.
- Do you follow us on any of our social media pages? We post new calls several times a week - and occasionally some of them have a very short submission window. If you aren't following us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, Reddit, and LinkedIn, you might be missing some calls! If you are also on LinkedIn, be sure to connect with us there!
ARTIST OF THE MONTH WINNER Keith Buswell graduated with a BFA in art University of Nebraska--Lincoln. He works with various printmaking processes such as screen-printing, intaglio and mono
printing and dabbles in drawing and multimedia. He currently is a member of Karen Kunc’s Constellation Studios where he creates his prints. His work has been shown in the United States, Egypt, Dubai, France, and Italy. Notably, Keith received the Perry Family Award in 2018 and second place in the 40 Under 40 Showcase in Annapolis, MD and third place at the Under Pressure print show in Fort Collins, CO. Read more about Keith and see more of his work on
our Featured Artist of the Month page: https://www.theartlist.com/featured-artists/2022-keith-d-buswell
SECOND PLACE WINNER Wendy Liz entered painting in midlife. She had spent years sketching and drawing with avid interest and creativity but entered the painting arena much later. She studied at the
Ringling College of Art and Design, and later with Sarasota artist and teacher Bill Jerdon. She worked initially in acrylic, but soon developed a love for oil, which became her favorite medium. Wendy is equally at home with realistic and abstract concepts and manifests an innate ability for portraiture. Her portfolio reflects this diversity. See more of Wendy's wonderful art here: https://www.wendylizart.com/
THIRD PLACE WINNER Licita Fernandez creates abstract paintings and drawings that consist of dynamic compositions using geometric shapes, zigzag and curvy lines, and where
subtle colors contrast with more intense brighter colors. Her abstract artwork often displays real life objects interspersed with the other shapes. Many of Licita's images are influenced by Native American art (especially Navajo) and Mexican folk art. Other influences are Art Deco, certain artists, and her Mexican American heritage. Licita's aim is to inspire joy, humor, and awe at the unexpected. Descriptors for her work include fanciful, whimsical, musically inspired. See more of Licita's
awesome art here: https://www.licitafernandezgallery.com/
VIEWER'S CHOICE Mark Warner is a landscape photographer and artist, specializing in sunrises and everything Florida. For many people, the ocean is too far away to be seen
and appreciated on a regular basis. For some people who live near the ocean, the sunrise comes well before they are ready to get out of bed. Mark hopes his art and photographs will help others be able to experience the grandeur of these singular moments in time that he has experienced and was lucky enough to capture. See more of Mark's art here: https://www.facebook.com/MWarnerPhotography

| DEADLINE: December 04, 2022 The Bristol Art Museum - Miniature Monumental A Juried National Call for Miniature Art - Juror,
Patricia Miranda. For centuries, miniature artworks have been created around the world and across cultures dating back to prehistory. Miniatures can be mementoes of loved ones, illuminated manuscripts, paintings, drawings, original prints, etchings, stamps, sculptures, engraved gems, and even carved beads. Unique and distinct among all other arts, the one common rule of thumb for
miniature artworks they can be held in the palm of the hand or measure less than 25 square inches in size. | DEADLINE: December 12, 2022 PH21 Gallery presents: Feminine / Masculine – A Curated
International Photography Exhibition Portrayals of femininity and masculinity are, without doubt, central to a number of art forms, photography not being an exception. The past few decades have given rise to – often heated – discussions and criticisms of past, recent, and current photographic practices for their lack of reflection on the assumptions, stereotypes, and prejudices surrounding
photographic approaches to femininity and masculinity. Fine art and commercial works alike have been critiqued for the potential consequences of their approach and presentation. Historically femininity and masculinity have been conceived, among others, as oppositions, as complements of each other, or as positions on a continuum. There are hardly any ways of portraying femininity and masculinity that would or could not be considered trivial, conservative, pretentious, demeaning, distasteful,
clichéd or even offensive by some. It often seems that everything has been both said and photographed about this subject, and yet, it is not possible to ignore the persistence of the theme in our contemporary visual culture. What is it that we can still value and possibly revive from the rich history of photography; are there any novel ways left to approach this subject with a fresh critical eye? The theme is broadly construed, as the photographic portrayal of femininity and masculinity is
independent of generic or stylistic constraints. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme. Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-feminine-masculine-23 |
