ArtePonte - France Art Salon Tour Spring 2023 taking place in Toulouse, Nantes and Strasbourg

For February. March and April we shall be exhibiting in France in three different cities. The boutique Art Salon fairs are taking place in Toulouse Feb 11 - 13 2023, Nantes 11-13 March and Strasbourg 31 March - 2 April 2023. Emerging and Established artists working within the fine arts, using mixed media, sculpture, paint on canvas, watercolour etc are welcome to submit their work for consideration. Fees: Submission is free until 20th of November, after a €25 application fee is charged. Booth fees: No booth fees is charged. ArtePonte receives 40% sales commission. February PleinAir Salon $33,000 Online Art Competition

The PleinAir Salon $33,000 Art Competition is a monthly online competition consisting of 19 categories. We award over $33,000 each year for this competition. The Annual Grand Prize winner receives a check for $15,000 and is featured on the cover of PleinAir Magazine. We award an additional $6,500 to the annual winners and award $1,100 monthly to the top three winners of each competition as well as a People’s Choice Award. Each of the 23 monthly winners will be automatically entered into the Annual Competition. The annual awards are presented live at the Plein Air Convention & Expo each spring. Because this competition is created by PleinAir magazine, which features not only plein air paintings, but also studio paintings, all types of paintings are eligible and do not need to have been completed in plein air. PH21 Gallery presents: Personality: Contemporary Portraiture – A Curated International Photography Exhibition

April 6–29, 2023. Portraiture emerged as one of the most prominent genres of depictive media early in the history of the visual arts, and the tacit or explicit rules, conventions and cultural expectations have always influenced the ways by which artists approached the genre. Photography is no exception; numerous different and characteristic styles of portraiture emerged throughout the history of the medium. Today we live in an exciting new era for portraiture. There has never been a time in human history when so many portraits and self-portraits were produced day after day as in the era of digital technologies. Photographers have responded to the cultural, social and technological changes by reinterpreting the age-old genre of portraiture, and it is always an exciting and rewarding task to organize an exhibition for some of the recent achievements in the field. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Personality: Contemporary Portraiture. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this genre, and who would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. PH21 Gallery presents: Scene and Meaning: the art of photography @ Barcelona – A Curated International Photography Exhibition

Although photography first emerged as a technological invention, it was also quickly conceived as an artistic practice as well. Pictorialist photographs in the nineteenth century were created to look like paintings, while advocates of straight photography in the first part of the twentieth century strived for the purely photographic means of creating photographic meaning. Street photographers devoted the medium to capturing the fleeting moment, while in the last part of the twentieth century many photographers turned to staging and directing to utilize photography for artistic visual communication. Straight photography creates photographic meaning from the scene observed, while directorial, staged photography creates a scene to be photographed from a preceding conception. Art photography also includes numerous genres and creative practices from portraiture, landscape and still life to abstract and conceptual photography. In this call we ask contemporary photographers to show how they understand photography as a fine art practice in the twenty first century.
