STCEA - Making Waves: Waterscapes in Art

THEME- "Botanicals" They are an essential part of life as they are used for food, in medicine, perfumes, and adding beauty to Earth. PAY IT FORWARD- We will be donating 10% of all entry fees from this show to The Nature Conservancy. The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. Colors of Humanity Art Gallery is not affiliated with The Nature Conservancy. “One singular sensation" what a great song. This call is about images with a single compelling focal point. It could be a person or thing that is alone in the frame or an element of a large grouping that clearly stands out. A field of lilacs with a single bright red rose would fit the bill as would a portrait reminiscent of Andrew Wyeth's "Christina's World", and the single shell on a vast beach. Using selective focus you can isolate a single pedestrian from the crowd on a city street. What about that track runner clearly in front of the pack or the prematurely leafless tree amidst a forest of foliage? PH21 Gallery presents: 'Portraits Beyond Faces ' – A Curated International Photography Exhibition

Portraiture emerged as one of the most prominent genres of depictive media early in the history of the visual arts; tacit or explicit rules, conventions and cultural expectations have always influenced the ways in which artists approached the genre. Photography is no exception. Numerous different and characteristic styles of portraiture emerged throughout the history of the medium. We usually assume that faces are necessary components of portraiture; we may, however, learn just as much about the character, the personality of a person by looking at images that depict other parts of their bodies, show us the objects or places associated with them. Not focusing on the face may open up a new dimension of interpretation. Our Portraits Beyond Faces exhibition is dedicated to this challenging divergence from the more conventional approaches to the genre. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for our group exhibition themed Portraits Beyond Faces. The theme of Non-Objective Abstract Art can refer to Non-Objective Art or Non-Representational Art, which does not seek to represent specific objects, people, or other subjects found in the natural world, but instead relies on shape, line, color and form with no particular subject. Non-Objective Art is a pure abstract style that typically uses geometric motifs on a shallow picture plane. SE Center for Photography - Strange, Weird, & Unique

Strange, Weird, & Unique, let your imagination run wild. The SE Center is looking for all forms of imagery of the Strange, Weird, & Unique, black-and-white and color, analog, digital and especially antique processes, photographers of all skill levels and locations are welcome. Our juror for Strange, Weird, & Unique is Michael Kirchoff. Michael has spent his years capturing the still image of people, cultures, and landscapes from around the world, to around the block, with a very unique and distinctive style. Currently, he is also Editor in Chief at Analog Forever Magazine, Founding Editor at Catalyst: Interviews, Contributing Editor for the One Twelve Publishing online column, Traverse, and Co-Host of The Diffusion Tapes podcast. The wisest words Michael ever gleaned from his father were to do what you love as your life’s work. 35-40 Selected images will hang in the SE Center’s main gallery space for approximately one month with the opportunity to be invited for a solo show at a later date. Monochrome photography is commonly associated with black and white images. However, throughout the history of photography, other tones such as sepia and cyan have also been utilized. Today, there exist numerous examples of monochromatic images that derive their photographic qualities from the tonal range of a single colour. While monochromacity was once a technological constraint, it has now become more of an artistic choice. Photographers may opt for working with the shades of a single colour for compositional or expressive reasons, and their decision should be interpreted accordingly. Our appreciation of contemporary monochromatic images is rooted in the understanding that the lack of colour range holds significance and meaning, instead of being a mere technological limitation. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Monochrome. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who create black and white or other monochromatic images and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery.
