The PleinAir Salon Art Competition is a monthly online art competition that awards over $50,000 each year. There is over $2,000 in Cash Prizes awarded each month, and $22,000 awarded at the Annual Competition each May. Each of the 23 monthly winners are included in the judging for the 13th Annual PleinAir Salon where we award the Grand Prize winner a check for $15,000 and feature their painting on the cover of PleinAir Magazine. The Annual Awards will be presented live at the Plein Air Convention & Expo in May 2024. Because this competition is created by PleinAir magazine, which features not only plein air paintings, but also studio paintings, all types of paintings are eligible and do not need to have been completed in plein air. As we know, many studio paintings start with plein air sketches, and many plein air painters paint figures and still life. Our interest is in rewarding great paintings. 

 

Eligibility: All individuals entering must be at least 18 years of age to accept cash prizes. Competition is open to residents of any state or country where acceptable by law. Those entering the Artists Over 65 categories must verify age if selected as an award winner. See rules for details.

Entry Fee: The Early Bird Discount ends the 15th at 11:59 pm. Enter before then to receive 25% off your entries. Just $29 for your first and $12 for each additional painting. The regular price is $38 for the first painting and $16 for each additional painting.

 

Awards: $15,000 Grand Prize with your painting featured on the cover of PleinAir Magazine, $6,500 additional cash prizes awarded to the annual winners which include Second and Third Place, People's Choice Award and Three Honorable Mentions. $2,000 in cash prizes.
