Her work reflects her love for the act of painting, of family, friends and the natural environment of New England. She currently works primarily in acrylic, and borrows colors, patterns, textures, forms and movement to create layered paintings meant to evoke personal moments and narrative. THIRD PLACE WINNER Deana Markus is a self-taught artist from Aurora, MO, who has been seriously creating art since 2017. She began by using colored pencil and enjoyed that medium immensely. As she developed her personal style, she found she needed additional

| DEADLINE: April 01, 2024 PH21 Gallery presents: 'Personality: Contemporary Portraiture' – A Curated International Photography Exhibition, June 1–25, 2024 Portraiture emerged as one of the
most prominent genres of depictive media early in the history of the visual arts, and the tacit or explicit rules, conventions and cultural expectations have always influenced the ways by which artists approached the genre. Photography is no exception; numerous different and characteristic styles of portraiture emerged throughout the history of the medium. Today we live in an exciting new era for portraiture. There has never been a time in human history when so many portraits and self-portraits
were produced day after day as in the era of digital technologies. Photographers have responded to the cultural, social and technological changes by reinterpreting the age-old genre of portraiture, and it is always an exciting and rewarding task to organize an exhibition for some of the recent achievements in the field. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Personality: Contemporary Portraiture. We are looking for submissions from all photographers
who are interested in this genre, and who would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; from traditional fine art portraits to selfies, people may be portrayed in countless unique ways. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme. Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/portraiture-24 |

| DEADLINE: April 14, 2024 NYC4PA DECAY CORROSION RUST DECAY, CORROSION, RUST... “And behind door number 2 – a brand new…….” US television prizes – all about
the “new”. Though we often focus on the new and shiny there is amazing beauty in the decayed, the corroded, the rusted and it can make images of those items so much more compelling and interesting. Consider the textures and colors in an abandoned, dilapidated factory or prison, the rust on an old bike, contrasting plaster and lathing on a corroded wall and the myriad of possible captures in a junkyard. Neighborhoods, disparagingly called "run down", are treasure troves of "decayed" tumble down
houses, "corroded" discarded toys, "rusted" cars, trash cans and so on. Decay, Corrosion, Rust.... can take many forms; black and white, color, abstract - all photographic media are welcome. As with all NYC4PA calls, all 2D photographic art is accepted. Note – Images awarded an NYC4PA prize within the past 2 years are not eligible. Images submitted that were not selected for a prize may be submitted at any time. Website: HTTP://WWW.NYC4PA.COM Prospectus: HTTPS://WWW.NYC4PA.COM |

| DEADLINE: April 29, 2024 PH21 Gallery presents: 'Significant Colour' – A Curated International Photography Exhibition, June 29 – July 23, 2024 There are two kinds of photographs with respect to the significance of their use of colours. On the one hand, ever since colour film technology became widely available, colour has become the
default in most photographic practices. That is, some photographs are in colour not because their colours bear some special significance (compared, for instance, to their possible black and white counterparts) but simply because the available film or digital technology has long made colour the common method of capturing photographic images. We may think of these photographs as colour by default. On the other hand, colours are often central to the meaning of photographs for their emphatic,
symbolic, psychological, social, compositional, etc. significance. These photographs would not work in black and white the same way, or they would not work at all. That they are in colour is not merely a technological given; rather, it is an integral, formative, and significant aspect of their photographic meaning. We may think of these photographs as colour by significance. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Significant Colour. We are looking
for submissions from all photographers who are interested in the significance of any colour in photography and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed. Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-colour-24 |

| DEADLINE: May 06, 2024 PH21 Gallery presents: '–scapes' @ Barcelona – A Curated International Photography Exhibition, June 10–17, 2024,
PH21@Barcelona There are various natural, artificial, and even staged scenes that seize the attention of photographers, compelling and inspiring them to pause, observe, and create an image to convey a personal interpretation of what they see. These types of photographs are known by a variety of names: landscapes, cityscapes, streetscapes, seascapes, waterscapes, cloudscapes, or even desertscapes, treescapes, bodyscapes, and so forth. Among these photographs, the most successful ones go
well beyond the mere recording of the visual qualities of a place; they bear the marks of the interpretive insights of the photographer, prompting us to contemplate a scene as meaningful and significant. Merely re-presenting is never challenging; it requires a novel conception of the scene to engage us, viewers, through the keen eyes and creative mind of the photographer. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed –scapes. We are looking for submissions
from all photographers who are interested in this subject and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed, as the photographic portrayal of scenes of the natural and built environment is independent of generic or stylistic constraints. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme. Please note that this PH21 Gallery exhibition will be presented in Barcelona,
Catalonia, Spain. Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-scapes-barcelona-24 |
