VIEWER'S CHOICE Indranil Banerjee is an artist from Kolkata, India. "Canvas, to me, is a subject. It tolerates my angry outbursts and patently listens to my imagination. My subject sprouts with the tinge of my imagination, giving vent to every load
within. The first tone on the canvas on decides the flow and flight of my journey. After execution of a thought, I am a relieved man. The soul resembles an empty vessel then. But the lull is ephemeral. After giving shape to a thought within, 'the next process starts soon'." | DEADLINE: August 19, 2024 PH21 Gallery presents: 'Shape' – A Curated International Photography Exhibition Shapes are one of the most important aspects of creative photographic compositions. Living beings and inanimate objects, including the built environment, come in many forms, and photographers often rely on the creative
possibilities offered by their shapes. While in some cases the images of things only serve a depictive function, at the other end of the spectrum, abstract photography concentrates on shapes and forms for their own sake, to the point where we can no longer recognise the depicted objects themselves. Between being either insignificant or the only significant element, the shape of recognisable forms may also be the driving compositional component of an image. That is, the shapes of living beings
and objects may be of central importance to the composition of photographs, not only in abstract photography but also in virtually all other photographic genres. These images capture our attention and stand out for their creative compositional form. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Shape. We are seeking submissions from all photographers interested in this subject who would like to share their work with a wider international audience through
the exposure provided by PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; we are looking for photographs in which shape is a significant compositional element, including abstract photography. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme. Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-shape-24 |
| DEADLINE: August 25, 2024 NYC4PA WANDERING CURVES 2024 WANDERING CURVES. The word curve has a broad spectrum of meanings from throwing a curve ball to slowing down for the curve on a country road, and
let’s not forget the curves associated with the human body. For this call the focus is on images where a curve or curves is an important element of the composition. No matter where you photograph the possibilities are endless. It can be that winding road. It can also be a stack of old tires, curved windows in a city building, or, in fact, the shape of the building itself. Do you see the curvaceous form of an elephant’s trunk when feeding, the curl of a giant wave or even a closer view of a head
full of curls. Curves are all around us. Capture them as a dominant element of your images and send them in. Please Note – 1 - Images awarded an NYC4PA prize within the past 2 years are not eligible. Images submitted that were not selected for a prize may be submitted at any time. 2 – We use a blind jury process. No signatures or watermarks on your submitted images. | DEADLINE: September 16, 2024 PH21 Gallery presents: 'Monochrome' – A Curated International Photography Exhibition Monochrome photography is commonly
associated with black-and-white images. However, throughout the history of photography, other tones such as sepia and cyan have also been utilized. Today, numerous examples of monochromatic images exist, deriving their photographic qualities from the tonal range of a single colour. While monochromacy was once a technological constraint, it has now become more of an artistic choice. Photographers may opt to work with the shades of a single colour for compositional or expressive reasons, and their
decision should be interpreted accordingly. Our appreciation of contemporary monochromatic images is rooted in the understanding that the lack of colour range holds significance and meaning, rather than being a mere technological limitation. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Monochrome. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who create black-and-white or other monochromatic images and would like to share their work with a wider
international audience through the exposure provided by PH21 Gallery. We welcome submissions from all photographic genres, including abstract compositions. We are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme. Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-monochrome-24 |

| DEADLINE: October 21, 2024 PH21 Gallery presents: 'From Heliography to AI: Celebrating Photographic Diversity'
@ Barcelona A Curated International Photography Exhibition in Barcelona. The history of photography is a chronicle of continuous invention and renewal of technical processes and the expressive repertoire of creative photographic communication. These changes in photographic practices have given rise to numerous distinctive approaches, styles, and genres. Some genres rely on staging and directing, while straight photography and street photography seek to create photographic meaning without
prearranging the world in front of the camera. Genres such as portraiture and still life may incorporate both major approaches. Photomontage, double exposures, lomography, and recently AI-generated photo-based images rely on the unexpected, the accidental, and the glitch to create photographic meaning. This exhibition is designed to celebrate photographic diversity. In the spacious Valid World Hall Gallery in Barcelona, we intend to devote separate sections to 19th-century alternative processes,
straight photography (including traditional landscapes, cityscapes, portraiture, etc.), photographs capturing the “decisive moment” (including street photography and other images capturing fleeting moments in any captivating situation), staged photography (including both conceptually driven staged art photography as well as still life, and other staged genres), and experimental photography (including photomontages, double exposures, glitch art, AI-generated photo-based images, abstract
photography, etc.). Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-photographic-diversity-barcelona |
