ARTIST OF THE MONTH WINNER Felix Concepcion is an amazing artist who currently resides in New Jersey. Originally from Brooklyn, Felix drew inspiration from
the great museums in New York that his mother would take him to as a child. He also credits fantasy films, and Fantasia in particular, as inspiring him to start his artistic journey. He graduated from the High School of Art and Design with a major in Animation, and attended the Art institute of New York, where he studied multi-media and filmmaking. Read more about Felix and see more of his awesome art in our Featured Artist of the Month page: https://www.theartlist.com/featured-artists/2024-felix-concepcion
SECOND PLACE WINNER Keri Darlington is an artist from Orlando, Florida. "Each time I begin a painting, I am opening myself up, not only to the creative process but to the deepest
parts of myself. Creating abstractedly is part of me, a feeling that needs to be expressed and seems to have a mind of its own. My medium of choice is acrylics and I am influenced by color, movement, whimsical musings and healing expressions that allow my work to intuitively come to life! Colors are layered, marked, removed and washed, while making sure to be aware of balance, composition, light and dark. I am also inspired by the idea that abstract art engages the senses subjectively and there
will never be another piece like it!" See more of Keri's incredible art here: https://www.kaleido.art/Keri_Darlington
THIRD PLACE WINNER Corina Luca is an artist based in Cluj Napoca, Romania. "For me, painting isn’t just a hobby—it’s how I express my
essence. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve felt like painting was the one thing that just flowed naturally, like second nature. It’s where I find my true voice and connect with the world in the most genuine way. Even though my day job is in tech, art is the pulse that keeps my creativity alive and kicking." Learn more about Corina and see her amazing art here: https://corinacreates.framer.website/
VIEWER'S CHOICE Juliet Mevi is a full-time visual artist with a studio in Berkeley, California. Her work ranges from realism to impressionism to fantasy. "I love the state of California which adopted my foreign born father and nurtured my
native born mother. The spirit of California is my muse. I hope to capture the spirit and creativity of my native state in my paintings." Read more about Juliet and see her beautiful art here: https://www.mevi-shiflett.com/

| DEADLINE: September 16, 2024 PH21 Gallery presents: 'Monochrome' – A Curated International Photography Exhibition Monochrome photography is commonly associated with black-and-white images. However, throughout the history of photography, other tones such as sepia and cyan have also been utilized. Today, numerous examples of monochromatic images exist, deriving their photographic qualities from the tonal range of a single colour. While
monochromacy was once a technological constraint, it has now become more of an artistic choice. Photographers may opt to work with the shades of a single colour for compositional or expressive reasons, and their decision should be interpreted accordingly. Our appreciation of contemporary monochromatic images is rooted in the understanding that the lack of colour range holds significance and meaning, rather than being a mere technological limitation. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit
their work for a group exhibition themed Monochrome. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who create black-and-white or other monochromatic images and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure provided by PH21 Gallery. We welcome submissions from all photographic genres, including abstract compositions. We are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme. | DEADLINE: October 14, 2024 PH21 Gallery presents: 'Dis/harmony' – A Curated International Photography Exhibition Harmony is an elusive, perhaps even ineffable aspect of photographic images. The same can be said for disharmony, its potentially disturbing, but often stimulating opposite. While many photographers share the view that the communicative impact of images is enhanced by harmony, there are
countless individual artistic interpretations of what makes an image harmonious or disharmonious. Some view harmony primarily as a visual compositional feature, accepting the unusual, the unexpected, or even the disturbing within the realm of compositional harmony or disharmony. For others, harmony is also a thematic concept, and they find harmonious elements in the communicative content of the image, arising from the various interactions depicted. The intentional lack of harmony can also lead
to some of the most creative photographic compositions. All photographic genres utilise compositional elements to create the sense of harmony or its opposite. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for its group exhibition themed Dis/harmony. We are seeking submissions from all photographers who consider harmony or disharmony to be a constitutive element in their work and who wish to share their art with a wider international audience through PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly
construed; harmony or disharmony may be present as a formal aesthetic feature and can be expressed visually on personal or social levels, whether literally or in abstract, symbolic ways. Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-dis-harmony-24 |

| DEADLINE: October 21, 2024 PH21 Gallery presents: 'From Heliography to AI: Celebrating Photographic Diversity'
@ Barcelona A Curated International Photography Exhibition in Barcelona. The history of photography is a chronicle of continuous invention and renewal of technical processes and the expressive repertoire of creative photographic communication. These changes in photographic practices have given rise to numerous distinctive approaches, styles, and genres. Some genres rely on staging and directing, while straight photography and street photography seek to create photographic meaning without
prearranging the world in front of the camera. Genres such as portraiture and still life may incorporate both major approaches. Photomontage, double exposures, lomography, and recently AI-generated photo-based images rely on the unexpected, the accidental, and the glitch to create photographic meaning. This exhibition is designed to celebrate photographic diversity. In the spacious Valid World Hall Gallery in Barcelona, we intend to devote separate sections to 19th-century alternative processes,
straight photography (including traditional landscapes, cityscapes, portraiture, etc.), photographs capturing the “decisive moment” (including street photography and other images capturing fleeting moments in any captivating situation), staged photography (including both conceptually driven staged art photography as well as still life, and other staged genres), and experimental photography (including photomontages, double exposures, glitch art, AI-generated photo-based images, abstract
photography, etc.). Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-photographic-diversity-barcelona |
