The Penn Journal of Arts and Sciences (PJAS) is a vibrant platform for individuals all around the world to share their scholarly and creative pursuits. The diverse voices amplified by our journal showcase research findings, creative articles, poetry, reviews, and art. With contributors from all walks of life, PJAS aims to cultivate a community rich with intellectual curiosity. The Penn Journal of Arts and Sciences accepts submissions on a rolling basis, with our next issue published in late summer 2024. A Smith Gallery | Photographic Performance 2024 Act 2

Do you have a body of work or a concept for an exhibition that is photography or photography based? We are looking for compelling solo or cooperative exhibitions to be exhibited in our online gallery for a “Photographic Performance”. The entry can be photographic images only, photography combined with mixed media, photography as sculpture, photography based installations or..... This is the fifth year of the “Photographic Performance" and we are hoping once again you can show us what it can be. It is important that the body of work has a conceptual narrative, actual or implied. Entries are due July 8, 2024. Oil Painters of America - 2024 Western Regional Exhibition

Oil Painters of America’s 2024 Western Regional Exhibition of Traditional Representational Oils, October 12 through January 5, 2025, at Phippen Museum, Prescott, AZ. Awards approximately $11,500 in cash & merchandise, including a $4,000 cash best-in-show award. The juror will be Steve Atkinson OPA. Artists eligible to compete are citizens - both natural born or otherwise - of the continent of North America who are 2024 OPA members. Submissions are accepted through 6/19/2024. Decagon Gallery - Second Annual OPENINGS online exhibition

Decagon Gallery is proud to announce its second annual OPENINGS exhibition. All photographers over 18 are invited to submit their photographs to this online exhibition. The theme of "Openings" can be interpreted in various ways. Photographs that relate to this theme may showcase physical openings such as doorways, windows, or tunnels, or metaphorical openings such as opportunities, beginnings, or breakthroughs. A Smith Gallery | photographic call for entry "portraits

portraits : vignette, profile, figure, depiction, silhouette, image, portrayal, representation, likeness … Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "portraits" to A Smith Gallery by July 22, 2024. Entries of 13 or more images are eligible for a complementary review by the gallery directors. The entry fee is $40 for the first 5 images and $5 for each additional image. Forty seven images will be selected for exhibition and shown in the online gallery from August 16 to September 26, 2024. An exhibition catalogue with all the accepted images will be mailed to all accepted artists. Also, 27 images from the total 47 images will be selected for “The 27”, a limited edition hardbound fine art book of the exhibition. The Juror’s and Director’s award winner will each receive a copy of the limited edition hardbound fine art book. The Juror’s Award also includes a solo exhibition. PH21 Gallery presents: 'Portraits Beyond Faces' – A Curated International Photography Exhibition

Portraiture emerged as one of the most prominent genres of depictive media early in the history of the visual arts; tacit or explicit rules, conventions and cultural expectations have always influenced the ways in which artists approached the genre. Photography is no exception. Numerous different and characteristic styles of portraiture emerged throughout the history of the medium. We usually assume that faces are necessary components of portraiture; we may, however, learn just as much about the character, the personality of a person by looking at images that depict other parts of their bodies, show us the objects or places associated with them. Not focusing on the face may open up a new dimension of interpretation. Our Portraits Beyond Faces exhibition is dedicated to this challenging divergence from the more conventional approaches to the genre. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for our group exhibition themed Portraits Beyond Faces. We welcome submissions from all photographers interested in this theme, providing them with an opportunity to share their work with a broader international audience through the exposure offered by PH21 Gallery. PH21 Gallery presents: 'Shape' – A Curated International Photography Exhibition

Shapes are one of the most important aspects of creative photographic compositions. Living beings and inanimate objects, including the built environment, come in many forms, and photographers often rely on the creative possibilities offered by their shapes. While in some cases the images of things only serve a depictive function, at the other end of the spectrum, abstract photography concentrates on shapes and forms for their own sake, to the point where we can no longer recognise the depicted objects themselves. Between being either insignificant or the only significant element, the shape of recognisable forms may also be the driving compositional component of an image. That is, the shapes of living beings and objects may be of central importance to the composition of photographs, not only in abstract photography but also in virtually all other photographic genres. These images capture our attention and stand out for their creative compositional form. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Shape. We are seeking submissions from all photographers interested in this subject who would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure provided by PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; we are looking for photographs in which shape is a significant compositional element, including abstract photography.
