ARTIST OF THE MONTH WINNER Christopher Buoscio is a fine artist who works in painting, drawing, and printmaking. His work depicts the urban environment and
involves the effect of memory, nightfall, and architecture on the viewer. His images are influenced by “Film Noir” cinema as well as traditional and expressionist works. He received his MFA in Printmaking from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University. He has also studied painting and printmaking at The School of the Art Institute, film at Columbia College, Chicago, and traditional printmaking techniques at La Corte Della Miniera near Urbino,
Italy. He regularly participates in solo and group exhibitions, lectures, and teaching opportunities. Read more about Christopher and see more of his amazing art in our Featured Artist of the Month page: https://www.theartlist.com/featured-artists/2024-christopher-buoscio
SECOND PLACE WINNER Christina Kading, a resident of the serene Hudson Valley, finds her muse in the delicate balance between nature and geometry. Her artistic journey is guided by a profound belief in the interconnectedness of all things—inspired by
the notion that beneath our diverse exteriors, we share a common cosmic code. Working primarily with wood, Christina's process is intuitive, allowing the medium to dictate its own patterns and contours. Through the ancient technique of pyrography, she intricately etches these natural designs into the wood, creating burned crevices. The application of stain transforms these grooves into barriers, enabling crisp, straight lines that define her compositions. Her color palette mirrors the hues of a
tranquil nature walk, evoking a sense of harmony and tranquility. See more of Christina's incredible art here: https://www.christinakading.com/
THIRD PLACE WINNER Bob McCormac is a fine art photographer from New Jersey. He specializes in beautiful landscape and other fine art photography inspired by his travels, and is a member of the Professional Photographers of
America. "While I was born and raised in New Jersey, my love of travel was instilled in me by the frequent car trips I took with my parents over those summers growing up."

VIEWER'S CHOICE Nasrah Nefer is a multi-talented professional and a tremendously zealous person at heart. She is a certified nurse, a Reiki expert, a dancer, a qualified life coach, a massage therapist, and above all, a very creatively proficient
artist. Nasrah was born and bred in Heidelberg. She has a German-Egyptian descent but has been traveling all her life expanding her skill set and exploring a diverse range of avenues to curb her thirst for creativity, knowledge, and the compassion to help others. Nasrah has been called a multi-disciplinary artist by the Singulart Gallery. She is a person with a wild imagination that knows no boundaries. Staying inside narrow shapes is not her style. She loves to open up and transform existing
scenes into new creations using all kinds of artistic techniques. The prime focus of all her artwork is on abstract style, pittura metafisica, and maximalism. Read more about Nasrah and see her beautiful art here: https://www.nasrahnefer.art/

| DEADLINE:
November 11, 2024 PH21 Gallery presents: 'Silence' – A Curated International Photography Exhibition, January 11 – February 4, 2025 Silence is always juxtaposed against its opposites: sound, noise, and loudness. It is strongly associated with loneliness, alienation, the unknown and disturbing landscape on the one hand, and known tranquillity and peace on the other. Photographically, the contrast between deep darkness and dazzling light is also crucial. After natural or
social catastrophes, everything falls silent: empty cities, villages, abandoned public transport and empty workplaces serve as reminders of the transience and fragility of humankind. Silence is accompanied by quiet activities such as contemplation and meditation, which negate the very nature of action itself. Additionally, silence is often present in still lifes, cityscapes, portraits, and many other photographic genres. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for our group
exhibition themed Silence. We welcome submissions from all photographers interested in sharing their experiences of silence with a broader international audience through exposure at PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed without any photographic genre restrictions. We are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme. | DEADLINE: December 09, 2024 PH21 Gallery presents: 'Upside down ' – A Curated International Photography Exhibition, February 8 – March 4, 2025 While photographs are valued for their depictive potential and representative content, the non-depictive, non-representational aspects of photographic works are also strongly related to their aesthetic significance. In this spirit, art photography has always aimed for the unity of form and content. Abstract
photography has gone even further, celebrating abstract compositions for their own sake, without the need for appreciating or even recognising depictive content in the images. Turning a photograph upside down tends to strip it of its representative function because the depicted scene and objects are difficult, if not impossible, to recognise when the image is turned on its side or upside down. However, the formal, compositional aspects of photographs become more pronounced in this manner, as our
attention is directed away from scene and object recognition. In our Upside down exhibition, we aim to showcase photographs that are indeed turned upside down. Any photograph is eligible if the artist is willing to present it in this unconventional way. Abstract photographs might be considered the most suitable candidates for this experimental exhibiting method, but there are many depictive works as well whose compositional qualities might also be appreciated in novel ways when turned upside
down. This allows us to liberate ourselves from scrutinizing and concentrating solely on their representational content. Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-upside-down-25 |
