ARTIST OF THE MONTH WINNER David DesRochers is a photographer from Somerset, New Jersey. David's passion for nature photography was sparked by a
trip to Glacier National Park in the summer of 2000. Exploring this amazing National Park inspired him to study the art of photography and travel the world to witness and capture the wonders of our natural world. David is a member of the Nature Photography Foundation and an Associate Naturalist with The New Jersey Audubon Society. Over the past 20 years, David has shared his knowledge of photography teaching workshops, leading tours, and writing articles. David’s photos have been recognized in
several international competitions and have been published in books, magazines and on calendars. Read more about David and see more of his amazing art in our Featured Artist of the Month page: https://www.theartlist.com/featured-artists/2025-david-desrochers
SECOND PLACE WINNER Andrea Paolino is an artist currently residing in Prescott Valley, Arizona. "My work as a sculptor is the development of a body of abstract figurative
sculptures in silicon bronze. Limiting myself to the human figure as my source of inspiration and stylistic direction, I have labored to reveal a personal range of artistic responses. The figure is depicted in fragments that suggest realistic as well as abstract form. I choose this method of representation because it emulates my beliefs regarding our fellow man. We live on the simple basis of what we perceive. With this work, I offer the viewer a perception of an image, hoping to provoke a
cognizant artistic collaboration with the sculpture. The realistic elements act as points of reference, while the abstraction contributes a kindred vagueness to individual perception. Use of photographic imagery sets the direction and focus for this work. From these prints, have emerged the stimulus for my sculpture." THIRD PLACE WINNER Kelene Cooper is an artist from San Luis Obispo, California. "I’m inspired by contemporary abstract art; my paintings are a celebration of color, form, texture and motion. My style is a method of abstract flow and sculpting the acrylic paint, each piece is intricate and
unique." Learn more about Kelene and see more of her amazing art here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61559104704885
VIEWER'S CHOICE Aghvan Sahakyan is a talented Armenian sculptor whose artistic journey is marked by dedication, creativity, and excellence. Born in Spitak, Aghvan has cultivated his passion for sculpture through education, service, and active
participation in the art community. After completing his military service in the Armed Forces of Armenia (2019–2021), including participation in the 44-day war of 2020, Aghvan turned his focus to art. Since 2022, he has been actively participating in exhibitions and competitions, earning multiple awards that recognize his skill and vision as a sculptor. | DEADLINE: March 31, 2025 PH21 Gallery presents: Significant Colour – A Curated International Photography Exhibition, May 31– June 24, 2025 There are two kinds of photographs with respect
to the significance of their use of colours. On the one hand, ever since colour film technology became widely available, colour has become the default in most photographic practices. That is, some photographs are in colour not because their colours bear some special significance (compared, for instance, to their possible black and white counterparts) but simply because the available film or digital technology has long made colour the common method of capturing photographic images. We may think
of these photographs as colour by default. On the other hand, colours are often central to the meaning of photographs for their emphatic, symbolic, psychological, social, compositional, etc. significance. These photographs would not work in black and white the same way, or they would not work at all. That they are in colour is not merely a technological given; rather, it is an integral, formative, and significant aspect of their photographic meaning. We may think of these photographs as colour
by significance. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Significant Colour. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in the significance of any colour in photography and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed. Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-colour-25 |
| DEADLINE: April 06, 2025 NYC4PA STREET PHOTOGRAPHY I think that I
shall never see a poem lovely as a tree. Joyce Kilmer wrote those words in 1915. And they hold true today. Trees are all around us in cities, towns and the country. They can be a striking visual, as a standalone in a barren landscape or be part of everyday life in the yard with an old tire swing hanging from a low branch. Trees are much a part of the animal kingdom providing limbs for resting and nesting, as well as wonderful sources of food for so many species. Forests and jungles create whole
environments. Trees standing alone on hillsides create lovely shadows. They can be tall and straight like a winter pine or bend and twist as they grow. The art can be found in the leaves, the branches, single trees or in groups of every size from oases to orchards. Website: https://www.nyc4pa.com/ Prospectus: https://www.nyc4pa.com/ |
| DEADLINE: April 07, 2025 PhotoPlace Gallery - Dreams and Imagined Realities Dreams and Imagined Realities Deadline for submissions: Apr 7, 2025 Juror: Emma Powell Prints due: May 23, 2025 Exhibition: June 6 - June 27, 2025 Dreams
offer a limitless canvas for photographers to explore inner landscapes, surreal visions, and the creative process itself. Whether emerging from the subconscious, inspired by fantasy, or rooted in personal reflection, these images possess a unique ability to transport viewers beyond reality and into the unknown. For this exhibition, we seek photographs that embody the spirit of dreaming—images that are deeply personal, ethereal, mysterious, or even unsettling. We invite work that captures the
blurred line between reality and fiction, bringing forth the magic, wonder, and complexity of the mind’s eye. All photographic processes and interpretations are welcome, from surreal digital composites to dreamlike film captures and abstract experimental works. We are honored to have Emma Powell as juror for Dreams and Imagined Realities. She will select up to 35 images for exhibition in our Middlebury, Vermont gallery and another 40 images for our Online Gallery. All 75 images will be
reproduced in the exhibition catalog and remain permanently on our website, and be promoted on social media with links to photographer’s URL. | DEADLINE: April 07, 2025 PH21 Gallery presents: 'The (In)Organic' @ Barcelona – A Curated International Photography Exhibition, May 5 – 14, 2025 The organic and the inorganic shape our world,
forming the essence of both natural landscapes and human-made environments. Their dynamic interaction – whether in harmony or contrast – defines our visual and conceptual experiences. The (In)Organic exhibition invites photographers to explore these dualities: the natural and the artificial, the living and the inanimate, the spontaneous and the constructed. Through photography, we seek to reveal the aesthetic, symbolic, and conceptual dialogues between these realms. From the human body to vast
landscapes, from architectural structures to intimate interiors and still lifes, the exhibition welcomes both representational and abstract works that challenge, redefine, and reimagine the boundaries between organic and inorganic forms. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed The (In)Organic. We are seeking submissions from all photographers who are interested in this theme and would like to share their work with a wider international audience
through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly defined; we welcome submissions from all photographic genres and styles, including abstract compositions. We are interested in all possible creative interpretations of photographic genres and styles. Please note that this PH21 Gallery exhibition will be presented in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, in collaboration with Valid World Hall Gallery, a renowned centre for the visual arts. | DEADLINE: April 28, 2025 PH21 Gallery presents: Out of the ordinary – A Curated International Photography Exhibition, June 28 – July 22, 2025 Out of the ordinary is often characterised as strange, unusual, odd, peculiar, bizarre, uncanny, weird, mysterious, or even surreal. Subjects, scenes, themes, perspectives, compositions,
portrayed events, visual experiences, and imaginative narratives may all deviate from the ordinary. Photographers often step into the realm of the extraordinary through the lens of their camera, embracing the unconventional, where the peculiar dances with the mysterious, and the odd intertwines with the surreal. They explore the realms of strange, unusual, and uncanny. Some venture into the world of traditional straight photography, where authenticity captures the essence of the outlandish.
Others delve into staged photography, where each frame unfolds a narrative beyond the ordinary, or embrace the art of photomontage, seamlessly blending disparate elements to craft a visual tapestry of uniqueness. AI-generated photo-based images offer a digital canvas to manifest the bizarre and create a fusion of reality and imagination. This exhibition celebrates the diversity of perspectives that redefine the ordinary and elevate the extraordinary. The photographer’s lens is the gateway to a
realm where the peculiar becomes art, the bizarre transforms into beauty, and the unconventional takes centre stage. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Out of the ordinary. We welcome submissions from all photographers interested in this subject.
