ARTIST OF THE MONTH WINNER Frank Wilson is an artist and photographer from Paradise, California. Â "Photography was my minor at the
Art Institute Of Boston from 1968 to 1971. I retired my film darkroom in the late 1970s to pursue my fine art painting full time. Once again, I took up photography in the digital age. I think that my success as a photographer is because I look through my lenses with the eyes of an artist. I photograph places and things that speak to me personally. Photography, like painting, comes from within." Â Read more
about Frank and see more of his gorgeous photography in our Featured Artist of the Month page: https://www.theartlist.com/featured-artists/2025-frank-wilson
SECOND PLACE WINNER Luis Solorzano is an artist and photographer from Alameda, California. Â "I have held a camera since I was a child and just love it. Â Over the years, I have shot film, through microscopes, from kites (now drones), under water and just about any location that draws me. Â I try to find beauty in everything that I see and capture it through my camera. Â For me photography has been a life long adventure and I continue to learn and grow in
it." Learn more about Luis and see more of his fantastic photos here: https://www.lasphotos.com/
THIRD PLACE WINNER Jeff Heyman is an artist and photographer from Orinda, California. Jeff uses his classic photography training to create a unique photographic storytelling style that allows the viewer to form their own narrative. Staying true to the medium, he embraces the digital innovations of the present
while honoring the film traditions of the past. A San Francisco native, Jeff was influenced by the various artistic and photographic trends sweeping the Bay Area. While in high school, Jeff studied photography under Ralph Rappaport, an associate of Ansel Adams, and undertook many photographic trips to Yosemite, Carmel and Point Lobos. | DEADLINE: June 23, 2025 PH21 Gallery presents: Stories: Narrative Photography – A Curated International Photography Exhibition, August 23 – September 16, 2025 While photography is popularly associated with capturing the moment, it has always been a sensitive medium of storytelling as well. Looking at a photograph may allow for an understanding of much about the past that has led up to the moment
frozen in time; it may also enable the viewer to imagine the possible future unfolding of events that may evolve from the still record of the here and now. Photographers portraying people, objects, and places can tell us inspiring stories, provided we take the time to study and interpret the images. A narrative told in a single photograph is an exciting challenge for both photographer and viewer alike. We invite you to engage with these works with the care and curiosity they deserve. Encouraged
by the success of our previous Stories exhibitions, this year PH21 Gallery invites photographers once again to submit their work for our group exhibition themed Stories: Narrative Photography. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who believe that their work tells a story and would like to share it with a wider international audience through the exposure offered by PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; it may be expressed visually on personal or social levels, literally
or in abstract, symbolic ways. Stories can be told about persons, communities, objects, and places as well. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme. Website: https://www.ph21gallery.com Prospectus: https://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-stories-25 |
