June Contest Winners
Artist of The Month Winner

Congratulations to TheArtList.com's June Artist of the Month Grand Prize Winner, Niamh Butler. Niamh wins a $75 gift certificate to Jerry's Artarama. She was born and raised in Montrose, New York; throughout her years there, she was consistently inspired to capture the intriguing inhabitants and objects of the world around her in a variety of materials, often using photographs of people far removed as reference. Niamh says "My aim at the moment is to focus more on landscape and portrait painting, as well as to continue
improving my technique and communication of ideas while I am building my concentrations of
work. I also hope to travel more and participate in artist residencies to experience unique places
and see how they affect my drawings and paintings. Ultimately, I will strive to make my artwork my primary livelihood, and extend its reach so that it will hopefully induce thoughtfulness,
inspiration, and sensitivity in others."

Second Place Winner

Jill Baker wins a $50 gift certificate to Jerry's Artarama. Jill's paintings are of peaceful landscapes or fantastical imaginary places or things, created in her own style. She travels to New York, France and Italy to paint and exhibit her work.

Streetscapes Photography Exhibition

Contests, Juried Art Shows - Photography Photo Gallery

Ahh, the street. That intoxicating cocktail of humanity. They come in all shapes and sizes, from the majesty of New York's Fifth Ave or the Champ de Elysee to the humblest backstreet and alley. Some have seen better days, like the ghost towns of Highway 61, and some are teeming with the kaleidoscope of humanity. But whether they are asphalt or cobblestone, made of dirt or even water, every street tells a story. It may be the structures that whisper of the past, or it may be the now explosion of a new nightlife hotspot. Whatever it is, now is the time to leave the narrow confines of your humble abode and venture out into the unpredictable byways of human interaction! You may find a favorite corner or boulevard you love, or perhaps you'll meet the girl of your dreams or maybe even an honest to god kook! Whatever happens, don't forget to focus and trip the shutter wherever your trip may lead, because this month at 1650, it's all about the road more or less traveled as we put on our walking shoes and enter the world of STREETSCAPES. Approximately fifty works will be chosen from submitted photos to be included in the STREETSCAPES group photography exhibition at 1650 Gallery in Los Angeles. There is an entry fee of $35 for up to 5 images. Additional entries may be submitted for $5 each. Best In Show, 2nd Place and 3rd Place will be awarded and posted online after the show opening.

TREES - International Call for Entry

Contests, Juried Art Shows - Photography Art Organization

TREES: "I think that I shall never see, A poem lovely as a tree..." So begins the famous poem by Joyce Kilmer. Trees are essential to the lifeblood of the world. Roots hold the soil so erosion is mitigated. They are home to birds, squirrels and many other of nature’s creatures. They bear fruit and in the fall the colors enhance our lives. Trees can also be looming, ominous, and, in cases of stormy weather, dangerous. They are integral to forests and jungles. They stand alone on a hillside creating lovely shadows; shade a child on a hot day; are sturdy posts to tie up the pet dog, hold a hammock off the ground. Remember the lost art of the backyard laundry line. Send us your images of trees as you experience them – forests, single trees, branches, roots….

PH21 Gallery: Call for Entries - Contrast

Calls for Submissions - Photography Photo Gallery

A juried international photography exhibition. July 28 – August 23, 2016. Throughout the history of photography contrast has persistently remained one of the significant expressive features of photographic images. Indeed, since contrast is a powerful visual communicative means in both black and white and colour photography, many photographers use contrast in the most creative ways in their work. Contrast may constitute the key compositional feature of an image on the formal aesthetic level; it may also emphasize some of the important aspects of the content of the photograph. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for the group exhibition themed Contrast. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who think that contrast is a constitutive element in their images and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; it may be present as a formal aesthetic feature, it may be expressed visually on personal or social levels, literally or in abstract, symbolic ways. We welcome submissions from all photographic genres, and we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.

Call for Entries - We the People...

Calls for Submissions - Acrylic, Ceramics, Crafts, Digital Media, Fiber, Glass, Mosaic, Graphic Design, Drawing/Illustration, Jewelry, Mixed media, Metalsmithing, Sculpture, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Watercolor, Video/Film Art Gallery

As part of the important conversations swirling around this election year in the USA, we are looking for work that critically explores and dissects the current election season and the wider impact government has on our lives. In a democracy, everyone's voice matters. So if you apply, you are automatically included in this exhibition. No individual candidates from the present USA election can be included in this work. Work must dissect the issues, not just critique a candidate. We, in the USA are all affected by those whom we elect, regardless of racial, sexual, gender, class, citizenship status. To grapple with issues and ultimately to vote is a responsibility and an honor; and it calls for discussion in which both visual and non-visual artists, can have much to offer. Please see the prospectus for size requirements. No projections or media installations will be accepted for this show.

TRI AN MONUMENT

Online Event - Public Art Calls Other

The overriding purpose of this monument is to honor and express deep gratitude ('Tri An' in the Vietnamese language) for the millions of Americans and Vietnamese who fought side-by-side to stop communist aggression and tried to give the South Vietnamese people a chance to live in freedom. To give meaning to this struggle, many of the Vietnamese people who fled their country to escape persecution want to show their appreciation for those who helped them during and after the war. The monument was conceived by Yung Nguyen, an immigrant from Viet Nam who became a successful entrepreneur and businessman. The foundation secured a one acre site and will fund and build the selected design. They are sponsoring this competition to help them find the most creative idea. This is an open world-wide competition and anyone with an idea is welcome to submit an entry--artists, sculptors, architects, landscape architects, students, professionals, individuals, teams or firms. The entry fee is $35.00 US for students / $75.00 USD for all others. Each of 3 finalists will receive an award of $4,000 USD each. The Tri An Foundation Directors will then select the final design that best responds to their mission. The winner will be a part of the implementation team. The JURY: SUSAN RADEMACHER, Hon. ASLA; Landscape Curator, Critic and Writer. YUNG NGUYEN; Immigrant, Entrepreneur & Tri An Founder. P. Q. PHAN; Immigrant, Composer & Professor of Music at Indiana University. DAVID M.
