August Contest Winners
Artist of The Month Winner

Congratulations to TheArtList.com's August Artist of the Month Grand Prize Winner, Theron Cook.

When your goal is to be part of a movement toward change, inspiration and knowledge, you allow your work to consume you until it is no longer work, but a way of life. An award-winning visual artist, Theron Cook lives by the philosophy, “Art is everything and everything is art.” He attended Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia and completed an internship at VIBE magazine. In addition to his work as a professional painter, Theron is a published author and the founder of Mute Magazine.

Theron wins a $75 gift certificate to Jerry's Artarama. Read more about Theron: http://www.theartlist.com/aom_08_16.html

Second Place Winner

Elisabeth Ladwig is our second place winner.

Elisabeth Ladwig is an award-winning conceptual photographer living in "bear country", New Jersey. Her work is the convergence of a graphic design career and a personal fondness for collage art. A grade-school revelation connecting science, nature, and magic fuels her creations ~ the idea that all of life’s mysteries fall within the parameters of scientific explanation, that science abides by the Laws of Nature, and that all of it is magical. Today, she offers viewers a variety of metaphors for the miracles all around us, and for humankind's relationship with the Earth and with the Cosmos.

Once an idea is born in her sketchbook, Elisabeth sets out to take the photographs she needs to create the image. Her process is variable and spiritually instinctive; often, an image is well on its way or even completed before its concept is fully understood, and that meaning may vary from one viewing to the next. All of her scenes have a strong natural connection, set completely or partially outdoors, often with an anonymous subject. "Anonymity allows the viewer to take part in writing the story," she says, "and that story is going to be different for everyone."

Viewer's Choice Award Winner

Congratulations to our Viewer's Choice Winner for July, Christy Boyer. Christy offers original painting and prints, and ceramic jewelry. She is happy to entertain ideas for custom paintings and ceramic pendants.

Landscapes 2: Call to Artists, Cash and Marketing Prizes

Online Event - Calls for Submissions - Acrylic, Ceramics, Digital Media, Fiber, Glass, Mosaic, Drawing/Illustration, Mixed media, Metalsmithing, Sculpture, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Watercolor Online Gallery

Art-Competition.net announces a Call to Artists for "Landscapes 2" an online international competition. $8,125 in Cash and Extensive Art Marketing Prizes. Deadline: August 2, 2016 (Midnight EST). The judges for this art call will be looking for artwork where the artist presents their unique vision of a landscape and also looks at the quality of composition and execution of the art. The power of landscape art is that the artist presents us with their unique interpretation of a landscape. We get to see the landscape from each of their emotional interpretations and perspectives. Perhaps the actual landscape itself is not as important as the many interpretations we are presented with by the fertile minds of artists. The challenge for the viewer is to find insight into the artists and how they are experiencing the land. The work can be expressed from representational to abstraction.

PH21 Gallery: Call for Entries - Stories

Calls for Submissions - Photography Photo Gallery

A juried international photography exhibition. September 22 – October 18, 2016. While photography is often associated with the capturing of a moment, frozen in time, it has always been a sensitive medium of storytelling as well. Looking at a photograph may allow for understanding much about the past that led up to the captured moment; it may also enable the viewer to imagine the possible futures evolving from the frozen record of the here and now. Photographers portraying people, objects, and places can tell us inspiring stories, provided that we take the time to study and interpret the photographs. A narrative told with a single image is a most exciting challenge for both photographer and viewer alike. Hopefully we appreciate these works with the care and curiosity they deserve. Encouraged by the success of our previous Stories exhibitions, this year PH21 Gallery invites photographers again to submit their work for our annual group exhibition themed Stories. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who think that their submitted images tell us a story, and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; it may be expressed visually on personal or social levels, literally or in abstract, symbolic ways. Stories can be told about persons, communities, objects, and places as well. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.

Art-Competition.net announces a Call to Artists for "Nature" an online international competition. $8,125 in Cash and Extensive Art Marketing Prizes. Deadline: August 29, 2016 (Midnight EST). The submitted artwork can depict any subject of nature, whether it is a simple object of nature or a world vista. Artists, through their works, provide a means of focusing on our planet's beauty, energy, and diversity. They may also bring us to a greater understanding of humans' impact upon the environment. From the beginning of human history, artists have provided us with a record of their feelings and observations as they absorb the unspoiled world's wonders and envision their hopes for the future. Light & Color

Online Event - Calls for Submissions - Acrylic, Graphic Design, Drawing/Illustration, Mixed media, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Watercolor Art Gallery

Light is a source of wonder and inspiration throughout history as well as the essential element needed to create color and determines how color is perceived. The universal truth is that in the absence of light color does not exist. Light and color set mood, translate time and can suspend the perception of reality. Join the launch and inaugural exhibition at Bauhaus Prairie Art Gallery by submitting art that demonstrates understanding and mastery of the creative power of "Light & Color." All types of 2-dimensional art may be submitted for jury: traditional, abstract and contemporary, but the emphasis must be "Light & Color." Bauhaus Prairie Art Gallery was established to celebrate the modernity of creative contemporary and traditional art through online art competition, to provide artists with a national and international online presence and as a venue to display new work. The online competition is an excellent opportunity for emerging artists, positive addition to any resume or a place for established artist to exhibit new concept and ideas.

Create Art: Change Everything

Online Event - Other Other

Jerry's Artarama started out to prove that artists are passionate about what they create and that art should be a part of everyone's life. This past year we launched an exciting campaign to energize artists to share a very special Facebook post centered around the concept, "Create Art, Change Everything". We asked everyone to share this post, comment on it, and challenge artist friends and those connected to the arts to help us get this shared in all 50 states. Help continue to spread the positive message that Art Changes Everything and please post your comment along with the state you are from. You may even get a $10 eGift Card from us! $2000 in eGift Cards to be given away! Keep the "Art Changes Everything" message going and please post your positive comment along with the state you are from. We will be giving away 200 × $10 eGift Cards throughout the year to help you Create More Art and Change Everything. (We will randomly pick from the comments on the official Facebook post, so please post there. *See web site for details and how to participate.) All of us here at Jerry's truly believe that everyone has the ability to and should create art. We know that art can and does change the world for the better.
