Artist of the Month Contest Winners |
Artist of The Month Winner
Congratulations to TheArtList.com's Artist of the Month, Krys Pettite!
Krys says: "I am a Watercolor and Oil artist based in Central Florida. My work covers the range from still life to figurative but my passion is the depiction of nature and architectural detail. I studied watercolor painting at the Crealde School of Art in Winter Park, Florida and also at Seminole College in Central Florida. I have participated in various workshops and classes from nationally-recognized
watercolor artists such as Tony Van Hasselt, Tom Lynch, Tony Couch, but I am primarily self-taught. I continue developing my technique with local watercolor workshops, life drawing sessions and private instruction in oil painting. In addition to being in various private collections throughout the country, my work has been chosen for poster art for national art festivals, and I have exhibited in various juried national and state-only competitions.

| | DEADLINE JANUARY 07, 2017 PH21 Gallery: Call for Entries - Motion Calls for Submissions - Photography Photo Gallery Photography is a medium of still images; it
cannot create the illusion of motion the way in which moving images such as film, video or cartoons can. The static nature of the image itself, however, has never prevented photographers from putting motion in the centre of their endeavours. Instead of freezing the moment they often strive for capturing movement and the passing of time in a variety of ways. Motion is never a mere given in photography because it is not a default option of the medium. Depicting or expressing motion is a welcome
challenge for photographers; it is also the source of some of the most creative images in diverse photographic genres. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Motion. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this most intriguing topic and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed and it is independent of generic or
stylistic constraints. We are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme. Mosaic, Drawing/Illustration, Mixed media, Sculpture, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Watercolor Art Organization We are excited to announce our eighth annual national juried art show, Wide Open 8, opening May 13, 2017. Our juror is another of NY's art elite, the Museum of Modern Art's Cara Manes, Curatorial Assistant in the Department of Painting and Sculpture. $3000 in cash prizes will be awarded including $1000 Best in Show Gold. The exhibit runs May 13 - June 18. Ours is a truly unique
gallery – a massive Civil War-era warehouse on the Red Hook waterfront in Brooklyn, NY. Its enormous space affords us the opportunity to exhibit really huge work, and we welcome it. We will be using 8,000 square feet for this show, and look forward to exhibiting artist's work from all around the country, work in all sizes, and subjects, and media, (it's completely wide open). The broad theme of "Wide Open 8" encompasses all the possibilities of knowledge and freedom and love - wide open
spaces…arms wide open…eyes wide open - but as with all things, there is the inevitable opposite - wide open to attack…corruption…failure. What kind of fantasy is this? What does it really indicate? This juried show looks to explore the idea of "wide open" in all the hidden niches of our collective psyche. This call for submissions is open to all residents of the U.S. and its Territories 18 years of age or older. This is a juried exhibition for artists working in all traditional and
non-traditional 2-D and 3-D media, including film/video when part of an installation. All artwork must be original in concept, design and execution. All work should be non-utilitarian in nature.
