PORTAL Art Fair - Federal Hall National Memorial, NYC
Organized by the Nonprofit 4heads, Inc Call for Entry - Deadline: January 17, 2017
Portal, opens this May in Federal Hall on Wall Street in Lower Manhattan - a new art fair exploring the work of 30 independent visual artists, at the site of George Washington's inauguration.
4heads, the nonprofit behind Governors Island Art Fair (GIAF), partners up with National Park Service to reanimate the grand marble rotunda of Federal Hall - with its of towering Corinthian columns, pantheon dome and glass oculus.
4heads works with artists to engage the public at unexpected sites, uncovering a new perspective on the history in these majestic places. This sparks a dialogue between the artists, history buffs, collectors, gallerists, and the public.Half of the artists showing at Portal will be invited by 4heads, the rest selected from this juried open call, opening the experience to exhibit in Federal Hall to both emerging and established artists.
Like GIAF, Portal is organized, produced, promoted and installed entirely by working artists and volunteers. Participating exhibitors are responsible for transporting, installing and de-installing their own work. It is highly suggested that each artist or their representative be present during the run of the event as much as possible, to communicate with press, gallerists, collectors, and the general public, and to take advantage of the invaluable contacts they make. Portal takes place at
Federal Hall National Monument, 26 Wall Street, NYC. F
