All the best for creative August,
Artist of the Month Contest Winners |
Artist of The Month Winner Tim Tyler is the Grand Prize Winner for August, winning a $75 gift certificate to Jerry's Artarama. “He is a contemporary artist
who works in a representational manner. Inspired by the Old Master's, Tyler's skills and technical ability to achieve high levels of realism are impressive, yet it is his visual wit, use of satire and clever method of social commentaries that he weaves into his compositions that elevate his works above practicing realist artists. Tyler has received honorable recognition for his work from notable authorities and leaders in the arts such as the late Charles Banks
Wilson.” Aaron Jones. See: https://www.theartlist.com/aom_08_17.html

| | DEADLINE AUGUST 13, 2017 Dogs, Dogs, Dogs! Photography Exhibition Contests, Juried Art Shows - Photography Photo Gallery Dogs -- what gives? Furry interlopers of mind and spirit, loveable self-centered freeloaders; they want all your food, but do they ever share theirs with you? No! Backseat drivers! Smiley
connivers!! Dumpster divers!!! Why do we love them so? Our protectors -- deep down we fear them, because they can so easily destroy us if they don't like us. Smarter than us -- they can sniff your birthday cake and create a hierarchical list of ingredients in their head. Best of all, they smell good and love you even when you smell bad. Dogs don't mind. They only ask one thing; be nice. And keep their water bowl clean and full. Oh, and feed them twice a day. Oh, and a nice walk in the morning.
And one in the evening. Maybe some ball playing in the park or frisbee at the beach in between? Perhaps some wrestling and play-biting after dinner? Oh, and a ride in the car would be nice! Who's your date—can I come? Does she like dogs? This month 1650 goes whole hog into the wonderful world of dogs. Say it loud, say it proud. And make it real. Because the dog knows when you are afraid... Approximately fifty works will be chosen from submitted photos to be included in the Dogs, Dogs, Dogs!
group photography exhibition at 1650 Gallery in Los Angeles. There is an entry fee of $35 for up to 5 images. Additional entries may be submitted for $5 each. We offer free matting and framing for accepted photographs that fit our pre-cut mat sizes for the duration of the exhibition. We have a variety of frames and mats to choose from. Best In Show, 2nd Place and 3rd Place will be awarded and posted online after the show opening.

| | DEADLINE AUGUST 21, 2017 PH21 Gallery: Call for Entries: Portraits Without Faces Calls for Submissions - Photography Photo Gallery Portraiture emerged as one of the most prominent genres of depictive media early in the history of the visual arts; tacit or explicit rules, conventions and cultural expectations have always influenced the ways in which artists approached the genre. Photography is no exception. Numerous different and characteristic styles of
portraiture emerged throughout the history of the medium. We usually assume that faces are necessary components of portraiture; we may, however, learn just as much about the character, the personality of a person by looking at images that depict other parts of their bodies, show us the objects or places associated with them. Not focusing on the face may open up a new dimension of interpretation. Our Portraits Without Faces exhibition is dedicated to this challenging divergence from the more
conventional approaches to the genre. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Portraits Without Faces. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this theme, and who would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; submissions of all kinds of portraits without faces of are welcome. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative
photographic interpretations of the theme. Website : http://ph21gallery.com Prospectus : http://www.ph21gallery.com/cfe-without-faces | . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
