response

Contests, Juried Art Shows - Photography Art Gallery

response: reply, antiphon, retort, comeback, riposte, rejoinder …… How do we respond? Many of us respond with anger. Many of us respond with disbelief. Many of us respond with indifference. Many of us respond with our cameras. We photographers can catch devolution or evolution or revolution. We can comment without uttering a word. Beautiful metaphor and devastating irony can flutter or shout from the image. The passionate confusion of lovers can exist in time with the startling rage of provocateurs. Response can be in the form of a psalm or an answer -- an answer to life's moments that break our hearts or set them on fire. Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "response" to A Smith Gallery by November 13, 2017. Entries of 11 or more images are entitled to a review of submitted entry images by the gallery directors. The entry fee is $35 for the first 5 images and $6 for each additional image. Fifty to fifty five images will be selected for exhibition and shown in the main gallery from December 22, 2017 to February 4, 2018. A reception will be held on January 27, 2018 from 4 to 8pm. A Blurb full color catalogue of the exhibit with all the accepted entries will be available for purchase. Awards are $325 for Juror's Award, $250 for Director's Award, three Juror Honorable Mentions each receiving an exhibition catalogue, discretionary Director Honorable Mentions each receiving an exhibition catalogue and $100 for Visitors' Award. Jurors for "response" will be the gallery directors of A Smith Gallery, Amanda Smith and Kevin Tully.

RED 2017

Online Event - Contests, Juried Art Shows - Acrylic, Ceramics, Crafts, Digital Media, Fiber, Glass, Mosaic, Drawing/Illustration, Mixed media, Metalsmithing, Sculpture, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Watercolor Online Gallery

Call For Exhibition - Twenty artists will be selected for an online group exhibit, "RED 2017" at Gallery 25N; the exhibit and artists will be extensively marketed worldwide to over 26,100 people including art buyers, gallery owners, curators, collectors, etc. Participants must be 18 years of age or older working in any still art medium. One artist's work will be selected to receive the "Christopher E. Burke Fine Art Grant" of $500. That artist's work will become the image of the exhibition and will be used on the invitation, video title screen and on all online marketing. Theme and Selection: "RED 2017" – The curators are looking for artwork that reflects an artist's interpretation of a subject or theme enhanced through the use of the color red. The extent of this application has no required parameters; the choice rests within the artist's vision. Colors often symbolize a variety of emotions, an artist's truth, perhaps wild fantasies---from war, power, heat, love, sexuality, anger, and joy to "soft" idealisms---these are but a few examples. Red, in particular here, can be used to draw the viewer closer emotionally in a way which enhances their reaction to the art. It may define intuitively an intended focal point that carries the viewer more deeply into the artist's message. All submissions, which can be expressed from representational to abstract, are welcome. The artists and exhibit will be extensively marketed with press releases, social media marketing, event listings calendars, and will also be featured in "Art Market News" with over 26,100 subscribers worldwide. We look forward to receiving your works.

PH21 Gallery: Call for Entries: LOL

Calls for Submissions - Photography Photo Gallery

A juried international photography exhibition. December 21, 2017 – January 13, 2018. Photography is a serious business, and so is humour. To join in the year-end festivities, PH21 Gallery is seeking submissions that explore the funny and playful side of photography. The source of humour may reside in the subject of the image itself. However, the specific use of the medium, combined with the creativity of photographers may also result in playful images in which the effect does not come from what is being depicted but from the way the subject is photographed. There are countless photographic means to create pictorial humour; from the surprising use of perspective, the particular way of framing a scene, the juxtaposition and incongruity of the elements of the image, double exposure through the creation of photo-montage, visual puns or optical illusion, the possibilities are endless. Humour, too, comes in many different forms and kinds. For this exhibition, we seek any take on pictorial humour that makes the viewer smile or laugh or grin. We invite the funny, the absurd, the witty, the wry, the dark and the light as well as the ironic, the jocular, the sarcastic, the political, the mischievous, the ambiguous, the thought-provoking, just to name a few. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed LOL. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this subject and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; we are looking for all creative interpretations of the theme.
