GRAND PLACE WINNER Ilze Helgeland wins $75 to Jerry's Artarama as our Grand Prize Winner. Ilze is
originally from Latvia. Her memories of The Republic of Latvia gaining back its independence from the Soviet Union had a profound influence on her development as an artist and her Latvian identity. She started her career as a TV news reporter before she embarked on a series of expatriate assignments in different countries including Norway, England, Angola, Brazil, USA, and Venezuela. While living in these different countries, Ilze engaged in photography in support of articles written for various
publications in Latvia. At the same time, she gradually increased her interest in graphic design and art. Visual storytelling became a passion and part of her lifestyle. Human values, culture, beauty, and uniqueness is highly prioritised in her visual storytelling. In her series “Hidden Stories” she states: “Every human being is an individual with his/her own dreams…, The more I paint humans, the more I realise how much
responsibility I have as a painter. I can tell a story.”
Ilze’s current focus in art is to catch the beauty and atmosphere in a single moment. There is sentiment and melancholy in her art searching for true feelings. Read more at https://www.theartlist.com/aom_10_18.htmlSECOND PLACE WINNER

His work has been shown in exhibitions across the US and his award-winning illustrations have appeared in books and comics. Dillon's paintings and drawings are an exploration of human
experience and emotion, through storytelling and the outward manifestation of that which is often kept internal. He is interested in expressing emotional content as well as ideas of isolation, manhood and the romanticization of violence in our culture. Dillon's artwork can be viewed at: http://www.dillonsamuelson.comTHIRD PLACE WINNER
Lynn Chatman, our Third Place Winner grew up in Houston, Texas. She wins a $25 gift certificate to Jerry's Artarama. Lynn has always painted or engaged in some type of creative activity. others to grow and find inspiration in themselves through art continues to be one of her greatest pleasures. ARTIST STATEMENT: "Much of my work explores and pushes the boundaries of abstract experimentation. I focus on ways to express the different "seasons" in the circle of life through the use of symbolism, texture and color; thus, the symbolism I find in candles, dragonflies, ravens, rust, etc. Art is a journey and the road I travel will always be reflected in my
work." See more of Lynn's work at her website: http://lynnchatman.comVIEWERS CHOICE WINNEROur viewer's choice winner, Sandeep Yadav, is an artist living in Pune, Maharashtra,

| | DEADLINE OCTOBER 06, 2018 2018- Its Political Calls for Submissions - Acrylic, Crafts, Digital Media, Fiber, Glass, Mosaic, Graphic Design, Drawing/Illustration, Mixed media, Metalsmithing, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Watercolor Art Gallery It's Political – A Group Exhibition: Though often divisive and inflammatory, we can't avoid politics in today's world. The intrinsic beliefs and opinions that shape us as human beings can almost always be seen in a political light. For our show
this month, we seek pieces that express all things political, regardless of party or belief systems. The artwork may be literal of a politician or political issue or opinion, or it may be figurative and interpretive. It's political, but we value all beliefs and the manner in which these can be expressed, artistically. Las Laguna Gallery is now accepting submissions of artwork inspired by anything the artist considers 'political'. There are no restrictions on content, style, medium or context,
but your entries should fit this theme, either traditionally or digitally, in some way. ARTIST NOTIFICATION: October 10th, 2018; SHOW DATE: November 1st, 2018.

| | DEADLINE OCTOBER 06, 2018 THE PORTRAIT | A JURIED PHOTO EXHIBITION Contests, Juried Art Shows - Photography Art Gallery THE PORTRAIT | JUROR: DOULAS BEASLEYIn her book, Portraits and Persons, writer Cynthia Freeland describes three essential elements that
constitute a portrait: “(1) a recognizable physical body (2) an inner life, i.e., some sort of psychological or mental states and (3) self-presentation, or the "posing.” Praxis Gallery seeks the submission of photographs that celebrate the aesthetic and conceptual considerations involved in the creation of the portrait: revealing personal narratives or new anthologies through the artistic representation of the subject. All genres, capture types, color and black & white, traditional and
non-traditional photographic and digital post-production processes are welcome for submission. JUROR | DOULAS BEASLEY: Douglas Beasley’s personal vision explores the spiritual aspects of people and place and is concerned with how the sacred is recognized and expressed in everyday life. He has a BFA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and has had several books of his photography published worldwide. As founder and director of Vision Quest Photo Workshops, Doug provides workshops around the
world that emphasize personal expression and creative vision over the mechanics of camera use. He believes in helping each student find their own voice rather than making anonymous ‘pretty pictures’. Doug has recently become the owner and publisher of Shots Magazine, a printed quarterly of eclectic fine-art photography. Notice of Acceptance | October 17th, 2018; Exhibition Dates | November 2nd – November 23rd, 2018.

| | DEADLINE NOVEMBER 05, 2018 PH21 Gallery - Call for Entries: Lines and Curves Calls for Submissions - Photography Photo Gallery A curated international photography exhibition.December 6, 2018 – January 5, 2019. Lines and curves are some of the most important visual building blocks of both figurative and abstract images. We can observe lines and curves of all
possible varieties in photographs; they are everywhere. Putting them in the centre of attention might even sound trivial and not particularly interesting at first. This, however, is a call for notjust anylines and curves. We would like to see lines and curves that take a daring and pronounced initiative in the photograph; lines and curves that capture our attention, lead our eyes, and determine the way we appreciate the photograph. Lines and curves might have significant compositional role but
they may also focus our attention on some parts of the image, hence influencing our interpretation. There are countless ways lines and curves might become the central creative aspect in a photograph.PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Lines and Curves. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this subject and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery.
We welcome submissions from all photographic genres, including abstract compositions. We are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.
