Ever wonder why most photos are so... boring? Well, it’s probably because the people in the photo are fully
clothed. It’s pretty much an accepted fact that people who spend a lot of time wearing their underwear loud and proud are happier, make more money, and are far more popular than the rest of us. Ask the Victoria’s Secret models or those Calvin Klein dudes with the tidy-whiteys. Heck even the guys and gals in the Sears catalog are having more fun than all of us. It’s a fact, Jack! Good things happen when the outerwear goes away and the underwear is here to stay! And we all know cameras and
underwear go together like peas and carrots. So grab your trusty Nikon and let’s see your Uncle Sal watching the Mets in his boxers. Or your bookie ‘Fast Eddie’ in his sleeveless tee and Calvin Klein’s. Or Sylvia from the diner in her favorite bra. Whatever you do, make it count and make it so you like it so we can all be proud of you. Because art matters. Because you need to push your boundaries. Because this time at 1650, the clothes come off and the guard comes down to reveal the art that
lies just beneath as we present UNDERNEATH IT ALL: THE UNDERWEAR SHOW!
Approximately fifty works will be chosen from submitted photos to be included in the UNDERNEATH IT ALL group photography exhibition at 1650 Gallery in Los Angeles.
There is an entry fee of $40 for up to 5
images. Additional entries may be submitted for $5 each. We offer free matting and framing for accepted photographs that fit our pre-cut mat sizes for the duration of the exhibition. We have a variety of frames and mats to choose from. We will also print your photo for a nominal fee if you are accepted into the show and would prefer not to mail a print. Selected artists may choose to offer their work for sale. The gallery retains 50% sales commission.
AWARDS: Best In Show, 2nd Place and 3rd Place will be
awarded and posted online after the show opening. Award winning photos will be featured on the show page and Best In Show winners will have a small portfolio of their work (up to 10 images) featured in our 1650 Spotlight gallery of photographic excellence.
All Awards winners will also be featured in our 1650 Gallery newsletter, which is broadcast via email to our mailing list.
