Happy Independence Day to all of you in the U.S. We hope that you had a fantastic celebration complete with lively and vibrant fireworks, music, great food, and maybe some art making as well!
June was a stellar month with tons of great entries to TheArtList's June Artist of the Month contest! It is always a hard selection with so many talented artists and photographers. Please take a minute to check out our winners below.

GRAND PRIZE WINNER:
Erin Hanson is the July Artist of the Month with her painting: Radiant Light. She wins a $75 gift certificate to Jerry's Artarama. Erin Hanson is the creator of the contemporary painting style known as “open-impressionism," which is now taught in art schools and colleges across the world. Her impressionist paintings involve minimal brushstrokes and impasto application of paint. Using a limited palette of pure,

SECOND PLACE WINNER:
Linda Steele is our second place winner and wins $50 to Jerry's Artarama. Linda is a contemporary painter and sculptor, born, raised and still lives in the small northeast Ohio community of Leetonia. Her artistic abilities were very evident at an early age, coloring and shading within the lines at age 2, drawing paper dolls on school notepaper on the bus ride home from school. Upon graduation from high school
she graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in Commercial Art, married her high school sweetheart and they raised three children. She is a proud grandmother of six and great grandmother of 2. Visit Linda's website to see more of her work.
THIRD PLACE WINNER:
Art Sekula is our Third Place Winner. He won $25 to Jerry's Artarama. Art's artist statement says: My love for landscapes has inspired me to create beautiful, naturalistic paintings about nature and humanity. My approach to painting is to present a representational style that emulates calm, solitude, and strength. I feel compelled to create artwork that can be actual or imaginary. My inspiration comes from my surroundings

Grants & Scholarships - Acrylic, Ceramics, Crafts, Digital Media, Fiber, Glass, Mosaic, Drawing/Illustration, Jewelry, Mixed media, Metalsmithing, Sculpture, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Watercolor Art Organization
Artist Grant provides a $500 USD grant to one visual artist each grant cycle. The deadline for the current grant cycle is 15 July 2019. We invite visual artists 18 and older from anywhere in the world to apply. Visual artists working in the following media may apply: painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture (of any type of material), ceramics, mixed/multiple medias, installation, and other new or alternative medias. We regret that we do not accept submissions for music,
theatre, or dance. To apply, email the following to submit@artistgrant.org: A link to your website OR 3-5 digital files of your work AND a CV, resume, or brief bio that includes your name. There is an application fee of $25 USD that helps defray the costs of administering this grant to continue to support and fund artists' important work. "BOTANICALS" Call for Entry - Online Art Show

THEME- "Botanicals" They are an essential part of life as they are used for food, in medicine, perfumes, and adding beauty to Earth. PAY IT FORWARD- We will be donating 10% of all entry fees from this show to The Nature Conservancy. The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. Colors of Humanity Art Gallery is not affiliated with The Nature Conservancy. ELIGIBILITY- All artists 18 and over may enter. Media- 2D works in all types of
media. JUDGING CRITERIA- Originality, interpretation, quality, demonstration of ability, and usage of medium. JUROR- Janelle Cogan. ENTRY FEE- $20 for 1 or 2 pieces (You may enter more than once if you have additional works.) AWARDS- Cash prizes will be given. Additionally, the "Best of Show" winner will be featured. His or her artwork will be on the cover of the show and it will be largely displayed with an article about them and their work. Other winners will be featured and have similar
recognition. All accepted works will be displayed with the artist name, title of work, and a link back to their website, or email address if they do not have a website. SALES- All sales are conducted solely between the artist and the buyer. Colors of Humanity Art Gallery does not handle any part of the sale or collect any commission.

Contests, Juried Art Shows - Photography Art Gallery
portal : doorway, entrance, opening, entry, gate, egress, opening, aperture, porte, exit, hatch, mirror, passage, threshold, cut, entrada, hole, scuttle, window, approach, camera, breach, mirror….Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme “portal” to A Smith Gallery by July 22, 2019. Entries of 11 or more images are eligible for a review of submitted entry images by the gallery directors. The entry fee is $38 for the first 5 images and $7 for each
additional image. Fifty to fifty five images will be selected for exhibition and shown at the gallery from September 6 to October 20, 2019. A reception will be held on September 28, 2019 from 4 to 8pm. A Blurb full color catalogue of the exhibit with all the accepted entries will be available for purchase. Awards are $325 for Juror’s Award, $250 and an exhibition catalogue for Director’s Award, five Honorable Mentions each receiving an exhibition catalogue and $100 for Visitors’ Choice Award.
Juror for "portal" will be Ann Jastrab, Executive Director at the Center for Photographic Art (CPA) in Carmel, California.

Calls for Submissions - Photography Photo Gallery
A juried international photography exhibition. August 29 – September 21, 2019. All mental and physical processes are subject to errors, and photographic creative and technical processes are no exception to this rule. Photographers may carefully plan their compositions, but even the most thoroughly constructed situations might surprise us with some unforeseeable element. Analogue and digital technical processes are also prone to errors that modify the image in unexpected ways. Some types of
glitches occur spontaneously, while others are intentionally prompted by using equipment or technology that randomly or systematically produces them. A glitch may occur in the theme, the production method or in the material of the image as well, and it could be present in the picture or in the viewer’s eye. In this call we understand glitches in a wide sense, ranging from the unexpected in the process of composing images to the technological errors that modify the final image in all sorts of
intended or unintended ways. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Glitch. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this theme, and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed, as glitches may occur at all points of the creative and technical processes of photography. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative
photographic interpretations of the theme.
