Happy New Year from TheArtList!
“It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much
performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done.”
― Vincent Van Gogh
A new year. A new start! When we started TheArtList back in 2003, it was just a simple idea for a posting board, a way to connect artists and galleries. At that time, there was no Google, Facebook, social media, and most artists were slowly and perhaps reluctantly embracing putting their work online. Times have changed and it is amazing to look back and see the thousands of artists and galleries who have used TheArtList as a platform to promote and connect. Now the art world
is more engaged and connected than ever, and we are happy to still be playing a part.
So as we move forward to a new year, we wanted to take a minute to personally thank all of you who have supported TheArtList over the years. We know that there are many places online for galleries to promote their calls and for artists to look for calls to enter, and we appreciate your continued patronage! If you like what we do, please don't hesitate to tell others about TheArtList.
The New Year brings resolutions and new beginnings. Do you have any new artistic goals for 2020? Maybe a new medium to try, a new residency to apply to, or a new contest to enter?
Do you follow us on any of our social media pages? We post new calls several times a week - and occasionally some of them have a very short submission window. If you aren't following us on Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest, you might be missing some calls!
Wishing you a fantastic and creative 2020!

DEADLINE JANUARY 13, 2020
PH21 Gallery - Call for Entries: Feminine / Masculine
Calls for Submissions - Photography Photo Gallery
A curated international photography exhibition. February 13 – March 7, 2020. Portrayals of femininity and masculinity are, without doubt, central to a number of art forms, photography not being an exception. The past few decades have given rise to – often heated – discussions and criticisms of past, recent, and current photographic practices for their lack of reflection on the assumptions, stereotypes, and prejudices surrounding photographic approaches to femininity and masculinity. Fine
art and commercial works alike have been critiqued for the potential consequences of their approach and presentation. Historically femininity and masculinity have been conceived, among others, as oppositions, as complements of each other, or as positions on a continuum. There are hardly any ways of portraying femininity and masculinity that would or could not be considered trivial, conservative, pretentious, demeaning, distasteful, clichéd or even offensive by some. It often seems that
everything has been both said and photographed about this subject, and yet, it is not possible to ignore the persistence of the theme in our contemporary visual culture. What is it that we can still value and possibly revive from the rich history of photography; are there any novel ways left to approach this subject with a fresh critical eye? PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Feminine / Masculine. We are looking for submissions from all
photographers who are interested in this subject and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery.
