Happy February from TheArtList!
“The main thing is to be moved, to love, to hope, to tremble, to live.” – Auguste Rodin
It's February and love is in the air! We here at TheArtList have nothing but love for all of you, and we think you all will fall for our new and improved website! We've been working long and hard on it and are still ironing out a few kinks, so please pardon our dust as we work to provide the artist community with great resources and a
great user experience. With that said, if you are having trouble submitting a call, or happen to come across any bugs, errors, or broken links, please contact us and let us know and we will address it as soon as we can. Thank you all for your continued support!
Please note that we are only able to showcase a small number of calls in the monthly newsletter, so be sure to check the online database on our website www.theartlist.com. You can login to search for calls that match your interests.
Each month we host a free Artist of the Month contest (see below). This gives us a chance to see all the talented and inspiring members of our community. This month, we are thrilled to recognize a few fantastic artists who submitted their work to our monthly art contest: 1st Place: Bruce Rolff, 2nd Place: Anna Laruccia, 3rd Place: Xueping Zhang, and most audience votes Viewer's Choice: David McGee.
Do you follow us on any of our social media pages? We post new calls several times a week - and occasionally some of them have a very short submission window. If you aren't following us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, or Tumblr, you might be missing some calls!
Wishing you a fantastic and creative February!

DEADLINE February 08, 2021
PH21 Gallery - Call for Entries: Silence 2021
A curated international photography exhibition. April 8 – May 1, 2021. Silence is always conceived against its opposites; sound, noise, loudness. Silence is strongly associated with loneliness and alienation, the unknown and disturbing landscape on the one hand, and the known tranquillity and peace on the other hand. Photographically, the contrast between deep darkness and dazzling light is also decisive. After natural or social catastrophes, everything falls silent; empty cities,
villages, abandoned public transport and empty workplaces remind us for the transience and fragility of humankind. Silence is accompanied by quiet activities such as contemplation and meditation, which negate the very nature of action itself. Silence is also often present in still lifes, cityscapes, portraits, and many other photographic genres. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for our group exhibition themed Silence. We are looking for submissions from all photographers
who would like to share their silence experiences with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed without any photographic genre restrictions. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.

DEADLINE March 01, 2021
OPEN CALL - Canvia
We're an arts and technology startup seeking artist contributions for our first project Canvia, a new way of experiencing, promoting and earning from art. Canvia is a digital display network that brings art into homes, offices, hotels and other spaces throughout the world like never before. The high-definition Canvia device samples the ambient light in the room and uses the data to adjust the display, resulting in images that can be mistaken for actual paintings or prints. It connects to
an online library of art, enabling users to choose and explore works to suit changing moods, occasions and contexts. Following a very successful first year of sales to residential art collectors, offices and hotels in the U.S., Canada and Europe, we are now expanding our library of contemporary artwork. We're interested in licensing the works of artists of all types and backgrounds as digital reproductions for use on Canvia's platform. Artists' work is only accessible to our users and the
license does not affect any sales of original artwork or reproductions, nor does it keep you from displaying your work elsewhere online. For a limited time, there is no cost to artists to exhibit their work on Canvia's platform. In addition to the obvious benefit of being featured on thousands of walls around the world, Canvia offers a variety of other benefits including the sharing of subscription revenue with its partner artists in the form of royalties. Deadline for submissions: March 1, 2021
Please send samples of your artwork and a link to your online portfolio to submissions@palacio.life. For more information about our company and our product, please visit www.canvia.art

DEADLINE March 08, 2021
PH21 Gallery - Call for Entries: Stories: Narrative Photography
A curated international photography exhibition. May 6 – 29, 2021. While photography is popularly associated with capturing the moment, it has always been a sensitive medium of storytelling as well. Looking at a photograph may allow for understanding much about the past that has led up to the moment frozen in time; it may also enable the viewer to imagine the possible future unfolding of events that may evolve from the still record of the here and now. Photographers portraying people,
objects, and places can tell us inspiring stories, provided we take the time to study and interpret the images. A narrative told in a single photograph is an exciting challenge for both photographer and viewer alike. Hopefully we appreciate these works with the care and curiosity they deserve. Encouraged by the success of our previous Stories exhibitions, this year PH21 Gallery invites photographers again to submit their work for our annual group exhibition themed Stories: Narrative Photography.
We are looking for submissions from all photographers who think that their work is telling a story and would like to share it with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; it may be expressed visually on personal or social levels, literally or in abstract, symbolic ways. Stories can be told about persons, communities, objects, and places as well. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the
theme.

DEADLINE April 05, 2021
PH21 Gallery - Call for Entries: Monochrome
A curated international photography exhibition. June 3 – 26, 2021. Monochrome photography is usually associated with black and white images. However, in the history of photography other hues, such as sepia and cyan were also used, and today there are countless examples of monochromatic images whose photographic qualities are based on the tonal range of various other colours. While monochromacity used to be a technological limitation for a long time, today it is more of an artistic choice.
Photographers may opt for working with the shades of just one colour for compositional reasons or for reasons related to the expressive content of their images, and therefore their decision is to be interpreted. Our appreciation of contemporary monochromatic images is also rooted in the knowledge that the lack of colour range is significant and meaningful, not merely a technological limitation. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Monochrome. We
are looking for submissions from all photographers who create black and white or other monochromatic images and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. We welcome submissions from all photographic genres, including abstract compositions. We are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.
