ARTIST OF THE MONTH WINNER
Melissa Hall is a narrative photographer/artist based in Lexington, Kentucky. Feeling something was missing after starting a career in computer science, she returned to school in Florida to study studio art and photography. Hall thrives on setting up elaborate photo shoots in dilapidated, abandoned locations. She employs models, vintage clothing, and various props to craft her stories. Her work is completed by combining her photography with encaustic medium and
oil paint. Hall’s motivation is to expose the beauty in the midst of ruin. See more of Melissa's amazing work and read her Artist of the Month interview here: www.theartlist.com/featured-artists/may-21-melissa-t-hall
SECOND PLACE WINNER
Luzdy Rivera is a fine artist that has been painting since 2014. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico and is currently living in Massachusetts. She specializes in portraiture and figurative art in the style of Abstract Realism/Expressionism using acrylics and mixed media. Her use of color is intentionally bold, with visible texture, marks and brushstrokes that honor the distinctiveness of each human being and their life experiences
and emotions. Visit Luzdy's website to see more of her beautiful artwork: luzdyart.com
THIRD PLACE WINNER
Melanie Barnett is an emerging contemporary ceramicist and arts professional currently living on Treaty 2 territory in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. Her work utilizes concepts surrounding home, familiarity, land, and environmental theory to comment on the climate crisis and their own relationship to the planet. She recently completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (honours) in Ceramics at Brandon University,
and has exhibited work at several galleries across Manitoba, as well as at Nuit Blanche Regina (Saskatchewan) in 2019. To see more of Melanie's gorgeous sculptures, visit: www.melaniebarnettceramics.com
VIEWER'S CHOICE
Debra Hooper has been painting since high school. Her mother was an artist so it was only natural that some of that creativity rubbed off on Debra. When it comes to art, she's done a little bit of everything: wall murals, signs, portrait paintings, painting parties. She's always enjoyed art of any kind but mostly enjoys the happiness art brings to others. You can see more of Debra's awesome work on her Instagram page: www.instagram.com/dkmhavetodraw

DEADLINE: May 03, 2021
PH21 Gallery - Call for Entries: Bodyscapes
A curated international photography exhibition. July 1 – July 24, 2021. The human body, in full or in part, is often in the focus of various photographic genres. From documentary, event and street photography to fashion photography and the nude, photographers have always found ways of constructing images in which the specific portrayal of the human body gains significance. This may be stemming from the rich layers of meanings determined and shaped by the specific socio-cultural context of
the image, the visual interaction of the human body with the surrounding physical space, or the intriguing compositional possibilities offered by the body itself. When focussing on the body, some photographers explore movements, study expressive gestures and postures, or concentrate on the beauty and details of the human anatomy. Some narrate whole life stories through the depiction of the human body. Others may offer stern visual criticism of our normative conceptions of the human body and its
mainstream representation in Western media. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Bodyscapes. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in this subject, and who would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed without any photographic genre restrictions. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations
of the theme.

NYC4PA CALL FOR ENTRY ARCHITECTURE 2021
The New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA) invites photographers world-wide to submit images using any photographic process (print, image transfer, emulsion transfer, encaustic, black and white, etc.). Winners will receive $4,000 in cash awards, be featured in the NYC4PA Online Gallery and in the winners catalog. The Grand Prize winning image will be posted on the NYC4PA home page. Architecture is defined as the art or science of building, often with a focus on habitable structures.
Great architects like Gehry, Wright, and Gaudi come to mind as well as famous buildings like the Sydney Opera House and the Disney Music Hall in LA. But architecture can be much broader that habitable buildings. Consider the Eiffel Tower, the pyramids in Egypt and interiors like the main hall at New York's Grand Central Station. Gardens can have a fundamental architecture as can other carefully planned spaces, and skylines may represent a collection of similar or different types of architecture.
Send us your vision of architecture with images that represent any of the facets mentioned above or another interpretation you envision. Whole structures and architectural detail are all welcome. As with all calls, all 2D photographic art is accepted.

DEADLINE: June 28, 2021
PH21 Gallery – Call for Entries: Motion
A curated international photography exhibition. August 26 – September 18, 2021. Photography is a medium of still images; it cannot create the illusion of motion the way in which moving images such as film, video or cartoons can. The static nature of the image itself, however, has never prevented photographers from putting motion in the centre of their endeavours. Instead of freezing the moment they often strive for capturing movement and the passing of time in a variety of ways. The
fragile moment might be broken by showing the sweeping power of motion. Capturing motion is never a mere given in photography because it is not a default option of the medium. Depicting or expressing motion is a welcome challenge for photographers; it is also the source of some of the most creative images in diverse photographic genres. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Motion. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are
interested in this most intriguing topic and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed, and it is independent of generic or stylistic constraints. We are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme. See links below for details.

Visualizing the Past
Mills Pond Gallery invites artists to submit works for a juried exhibition August 7 - September 5, 2021. Juror: Carol Strickland. The exhibition is open to varied interpretations of the role of remembrance, suggesting what remains after a physical presence, event or emotion has vanished. Entry Fee $45/3 images. Awards: $1200 Best in Show, $800 Second Place, $400 Third Place. Entry Deadline June 30, 2021. Mills Pond Gallery invites artists to submit works for a juried exhibition on the
theme of poet Emily Dickinson’s phrase: “Memory is a strange Bell—Jubilee, and Knell.” The exhibition is open to multiple responses to the metaphor: a bell that summons the public to a joyous celebration or rings mournfully to signal loss. Artists may explore the role of remembrance—from personal reflections to universal emotions—through abstract, representational, or mixed modalities. Visual evocations of past events, landscapes, people, scenes, objects, or structures can make intangible
thoughts, emotions, and concepts visible to the mind’s eye. Images that preserve the past can retard decay and disappearance. Conversely, they could also give form to the inevitable ravages of time. Whether invoking the highs or lows of cultural memory, artists can suggest what remains after a physical presence, event, or emotion has vanished.
