ARTIST OF THE MONTH WINNER
Rakhee Roy is an artist from Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Rakhee's art inspirations include her deep concerns for nature and all the living creatures in it, the beauty of our planet, farmers, the spirituality of humanity, and women who represent shakti as a symbol of another power, culture, strength and love. However, her main inspiration to paint may be to leave a legacy for her children. See Rakhee's Featured Artist of the Month
page: https://www.theartlist.com/featured-artists/2021-rakhee-roy
SECOND PLACE WINNER
Smruti Kurse creates works in graphite-charcoal, oils, and pyrography (wood-burning). Her entry is a monochromatic image burned on a wood plank that captures the beauty of the "Wild Cat". When burning a piece of wood, she focuses on the subject of her work as well as the process; exploring the person or the object, to bring an attentiveness and consideration into what she's creating. Each piece represents a moment and she works to honor that moment, the
practice of her art piece, as well as the subject of it. See more of Smruti's amazing art here : https://www.smrutikursefineart.com/
THIRD PLACE WINNER
Hailing from The Netherlands, Tobias Bergakker AKA Twaalf has been part of the Eindhoven underground scene for as long as anyone can remember. Growing up, it took a while to find the confidence to not only express himself through music, parties and decoration, but also through paint, as art. From underground punk, tekno and psychedelic culture, to (alternative) pop at the Effenaar, to finding his way through the maze called ‘contemporary society’, or art classes at
school, to open-air raves or traditional, cultural musea, to mystic optimism and cybergoth dystopia, it’s all there, in his work. See more Twaalf here: https://twaalf.art/
VIEWER'S CHOICE
Tanner Bogard is a 26-year-old artist living in Richmond, VA. Born and raised in San Diego, CA, he moved to Virginia when he was in the 4th grade. Shortly after, Tanner's mother was diagnosed with cancer and, after a long fight, she passed. At just 10, this took a huge toll and he felt truly lost in this world, until years later when he found his passion...art.
He started with pieces done on paper with pen and marker and eventually graduated to acrylic paint. He's never been in an art class and finds great satisfaction and pleasure by teaching himself every step of the way. As an artist, he wishes for a platform to spread messages of spirituality to provide people with the same guidance, motivation, and comfort that he was searching for when he was young and lost. "When I found my art I found myself. I found
peace." Tanner is managed by Kind Productions. Visit Tanner's website to see more of his art: https://www.bogard-art.com/

PH21 Gallery – Call for Entries: Motion
A curated international photography exhibition. August 26 – September 18, 2021. Photography is a medium of still images; it cannot create the illusion of motion the way in which moving images such as film, video or cartoons can. The static nature of the image itself, however, has never prevented photographers from putting motion in the centre of their endeavours. Instead of freezing the moment they often strive for capturing movement and the passing of time in a variety of ways. The
fragile moment might be broken by showing the sweeping power of motion. Capturing motion is never a mere given in photography because it is not a default option of the medium. Depicting or expressing motion is a welcome challenge for photographers; it is also the source of some of the most creative images in diverse photographic genres. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Motion. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are
interested in this most intriguing topic and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed, and it is independent of generic or stylistic constraints. We are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme. See links below for details.

Visualizing the Past
Mills Pond Gallery invites artists to submit works for a juried exhibition August 7 - September 5, 2021. Juror: Carol Strickland. The exhibition is open to varied interpretations of the role of remembrance, suggesting what remains after a physical presence, event or emotion has vanished. Entry Fee $45/3 images. Awards: $1200 Best in Show, $800 Second Place, $400 Third Place. Entry Deadline June 30, 2021. Mills Pond Gallery invites artists to submit works for a juried exhibition on the
theme of poet Emily Dickinson’s phrase: “Memory is a strange Bell—Jubilee, and Knell.” The exhibition is open to multiple responses to the metaphor: a bell that summons the public to a joyous celebration or rings mournfully to signal loss. Artists may explore the role of remembrance—from personal reflections to universal emotions—through abstract, representational, or mixed modalities. Visual evocations of past events, landscapes, people, scenes, objects, or structures can make intangible
thoughts, emotions, and concepts visible to the mind’s eye. Images that preserve the past can retard decay and disappearance. Conversely, they could also give form to the inevitable ravages of time. Whether invoking the highs or lows of cultural memory, artists can suggest what remains after a physical presence, event, or emotion has vanished.

PH21 Gallery – Call for Entries: Portraits Without Faces
A curated international photography exhibition. September 23 – October 16, 2021. Portraiture emerged as one of the most prominent genres of depictive media early in the history of the visual arts; tacit or explicit rules, conventions and cultural expectations have always influenced the ways in which artists approached the genre. Photography is no exception. Numerous different and characteristic styles of portraiture emerged throughout the history of the medium. We usually assume that faces
are necessary components of portraiture; we may, however, learn just as much about the character, the personality of a person by looking at images that depict other parts of their bodies, show us the objects or places associated with them. Not focusing on the face may open up a new dimension of interpretation. Our Portraits Without Faces exhibition is dedicated to this challenging divergence from the more conventional approaches to the genre. See links below for details.
