    Happy October and welcome new Art Listers!

    October is a great time to be utilizing all of your productive and creative juices before the onset of cold weather and the busy holiday season. Over the next few months, galleries, art organizations, and other contest holders will be planning for 2009 so please keep checking in to see what is coming around the bend in the New Year. If you are a premium member, please be sure to take full advantage of your My Opportunities Manager and save your favorite listings.

    This month we are excited to showcase Los Angeles sculptor, Ricky Hill as the October 2008 Artist of the Month. Please take a moment to view Ricky's AOM page.

    On the development front
    As usual, our programmers have been hard at work on TheArtList.com and will be releasing some new updates and premium features in the very near future. Many of these updates are aimed at connecting our members with contest and opportunity sponsors and helping you with getting more exposure for your work. As soon as we are ready to test the new sections of the website, we will let you know.

    With all of the recent behind the scenes development in attempt to make TheArtList.com better, we have encountered several issues and problems. Generally, our programmers are quick to investigate and fix whatever is happening. A while back we had a problem with some members not being able to login to the site or being kicked out for no reason. I believe that this problem has been corrected but if you still have problems with logging into the website, please contact us and let us know. One thing to note is that our website uses session "cookies" to manage logins. If you have your Internet browser or personal firewall security settings set to block cookies then you will need to add theartlist.com as an allowed website.     Projekt30's December Exhibition

    Projekt30 is seeking artwork for our December 2008 Publicly Juried Exhibition. "Publicly juried" means that all artwork submitted will be presented online prior to the exhibition so that Projekt30's visitors may select which artists will be included in final 30 artist exhibition. To publicize the exhibition, invitations will be distributed to over 30,000 galleries, collectors, and artists. Visitors have the option of contacting any artist directly with praise and/or career-advancing opportunities. Unlike other juried exhibitions, all participants receive exposure. The deadline for submission November 1, 2008. The public jury opens November 15, 2008. The final 30 are published on December 1, 2008.     Elf Cottage Music seeks original artwork for 2 new music videos: AT SANTA'S WORKSHOP and MAGICAL HOLIDAY. Art should represent a day in the life of Santa's elves or the fun and joy of Christmas. Some ideas: elves preparing for their workday, snow and the North Pole, inside or outside views of Santa's Workshop, reindeer, candy canes, stockings, decorations, elves making toys, wrapping presents, loading the sleigh and, of course, working with Santa! SUBMISSION INFO: Artwork must be original and not copied from other sources. Creations should be colorful and imaginative. Multiple entries permitted. Artists of ALL AGES welcome--children, teens and adults!Deadline for this project: November 7th, 2008, but we are always interested in hearing from creative people.     Embracing Our Differences

    Embracing Our Differences invites artists, photographers, professionals, amateurs, teachers and students to participate in its 5th annual visual art exhibit celebrating diversity. National and international submissions are encouraged. 39 artists will be selected for the exhibit. The Embracing Our Differences exhibit will be displayed throughout the month of April 2008 at Island Park along Sarasota's beautiful bayfront. The exhibit will also be displayed throughout the month of May 2008 in North Port, Florida. Since 2004, the exhibit has been viewed by more than 400,000 visitors. The exhibit will contain 39 billboard-sized (16 feet wide by 12 1/2 feet high) images of the selected artworks.Final selections will be chosen based on artistic excellence in reflection of the theme "Embracing Our Differences". The art-work will also be evaluated on how effectively it will read outdoors when enlarged to billboard size - 16 feet wide by 12 1/2 feet high. Artists are encouraged to use bold saturated colors and strong lines. Final selections will be made by a 3-judge panel of professional artists, curators and art professionals. A total of $2,500.00 in awards will be presented.Deadline for submission is January 8, 2008.
