Submission Deadline: November 1, 2013 (mailed in)
November 15, 2013 (online)
Exhibition Dates: January 25 – March 16, 2014
DESCRIPTION
Since
its first juried ceramics exhibition in 1974, FAC has demonstrated its
commitment to Colorado artists working in the clay medium. Building on
the success of over 30 previous clay exhibitions, FAC is pleased to
announce the official call to artists for our 2014 Colorado Clay
Biennial.
FAC’s goal is to showcase clay in a way that goes
well beyond functional objects and into the realm of fine art with this
exhibition. FAC has invited several highly accomplished Colorado
artists who are truly doing exciting and new things with clay to
participate in the exhibition. The invited artists include Bebe
Alexander, Heather Mae Erickson, Del Harrow, Sara Ransford, Martha
Russo, and Maynard Tischler.
The remaining objects will be
selected by juror, Doug Casebeer. Artists may enter up to 5 objects,
each to be judged for inclusion in the exhibition and considered for
cash and merchandise awards of over $1,000. Additionally, accepted
artists will be invited to bring smaller clay items priced $250 or less
for a special gift gallery exhibition space in conjunction with the
exhibition.
Artists are encouraged to take a creative approach
to clay, going beyond traditional expressions to explore the creative
fringes of the medium where fine art and craft merge. FAC will
recognize the quality and innovative work being produced by
contemporary Colorado ceramic artists and will expose audiences to the
wide variety of expressions possible within the medium.
