exceptional
Call
for Artists - Deadline: October 11th, 2013
The
philosophy:
exeptional is a new, edgy, hip
publication highlighting the work and experience of artists who endure
obstacles -- such obstacles can include physical ailments and diseases,
psychological ailments and diseases, socio/economic/political
struggle, or all of the above. We operate at a very high level of
aesthetics, focusing on the high artistic craft and taste of amazing
works of art. We spotlight artists who create at the top of their
fields AND also survive and thrive despite profound experiences. While
we believe “experience” drives all art and visual culture, we are
looking for those of you that truly rise above. We are looking for
works from artists
of all ages and circumstances -- from 7 years old cancer survivors, to
89 year old stroke survivors, we want to
hear from you.
Media/Materials:
work must have been created after January 1,
2008 (the last five years). Work must be created by at least one
of the following methods: painting, drawing, sculpture, photography,
printmaking, fiber arts, installation,
ceramics and glass. We do NOT accept the following materials and
methods: jewelery, film, video,
graphic/design arts, animation, performance art.
The
artist benefits:
The artists that are accepted for publication in/with exceptional shall
be included in one issue of digital and
printed exhibition in print. Digital publication will include a four
page spread of artists work. Printed
publication will include one page spread of artists work. Both will
include publication of a bio of the artists
struggles and experiences. The digital publications will be available
for download on the resilient feet art
group website and on amazon, available for purchase as a kindle ebook.
Printed publications will be
disseminated to over 5000 nationally recognized fine art galleries.
Accepted artists will also automatically be
considered for a spotlight within the spotlight -- becoming a featured
artist within the publications and on
resilient feet art group's website, social media, and advertising
campaigns. Artists will also automatically be
considered for upcoming gallery exhibition with resilient feet gallery
to be opened in 2014 in san francisco.
