GALLERY CALL
FOR ENTRIES OPENING NIGHT
RECEPTION: 1650 Gallery is hosting the
juried photography exhibition Why is it that
reflections attract the artistic eye so? Is it the ghost-like
excitement of that we can see but can't touch? The imperfect mimicry of
the visual echo teases the eye with visions of fleeting unworldliness
amongst the solid, explained, and mundane. The wiggly contours of the
human face on a puddle of rainwater. The dry mirage of summer sun
ricocheting from window glass to city stone. How about the hyper-visual
bonding of neon and raindrops on a rainy night? Even the flawless
mirror image of mirrors can be interesting in it's reverseness -- or
perhaps perverseness? The list may go on and on, but for us dear
reader, time grows short. For all of photography is but a reflection,
and this month 1650 is here to help sort it out. So wash your window
and shine your chrome, this time it's not you we want.... it's the
reflection of your perfection we yearn to see. Approximately fifty
works will be chosen from submitted photographs to
be included in the REFLECTIONS
exhibition at 1650 Gallery in the Echo
Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Additional works may also be selected
for an online gallery exhibition page. Juror:
Andrew Overtoom
is an award winning filmmaker and photographer living in Los Angeles.
He publishes THE UNDEAD NEG photography blog. He is also the
owner/curator
of 1650
Gallery in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los
Angeles. |
