Rub of the Green”
A Call for Photography Entries

The month of March, in my mind – has always been the calendar’s “green”
month. I mean, for starters it plays host to the green-themed holiday
St Patrick’s Day, but not long after that – Spring officially arrives,
and although here on the east coast of the U.S., things don’t start to
really green up until April is well under way – the first signs of
tender, new baby plant growth do begin to make a welcome appearance
right at the tail end of March.
The color green signifies life, and luck (on the positive end of the
spectrum), but it can also connote less favorable qualities like
sickness, immaturity, inexperience and envy. And on top of all that,
green also happens to be my most favorite color!
For the March Exhibition – 1
lb. Gallery asks that you submit images in
which the color green is featured as much or as little, and in whatever
fashion you like. Obviously, this is a very loosely themed call for
submissions, and with so few confines limiting you – I hope (selfishly)
and expect (eagerly) to see green represented in a myriad of different
ways…
One Entrant will receive the “Juror’s Choice Award”, and will be the
featured artist on the 1 lb. website for the month of March, 2014, as
well as the special guest at the “The Rub of the Green” Opening Night
& Artist’s Reception” on March 7th, 2014. “Juror’s Choice
Award” winners who are unable to attend the exhibition’s Opening Night,
have the option of, and are encouraged to Skype with attendees of the
event, over the course of the evening. The “Juror’s Choice Award”
winner will also receive an archival 8.5″ x 11″ giclee print of one of
their images.
Up to 35 images will be chosen from the submissions, and will be on
display in the “The Rub of the Green” Exhibition at 1 lb. Gallery from
March 5th, – March 29th, 2014. Winning images will also appear on the 1
lb. website, and will be made available for online purchases.

to Submit is Saturday, February 1st, 2014
Winners will be announced by Saturday, February 8th, 2014
Images selected for inclusion in the March show,
must arrive at the gallery, ready to hang - by no later than Saturday,
March 1st, 2014.
We hope that you’ll join us at 1 lb. Gallery for the “The Rub of the
Green” Opening & Artists’ Reception on:
Friday, March 7th, 2014
From 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
The fee to submit is $25 for up to 5 images, $6 for each additional
image. No more than 10 total photos per entrant, please.
Here at the gallery, we firmly believe that Smart Phone Photography is
a legitimate art form, so please do not hesitate to submit images that
were captured on your cell phones.
1 lb. Gallery offers matting and framing for accepted photographs that
fit our pre-cut mat sizes, for the duration of the exhibit. We will
also print images that were selected for display in the gallery, should
you prefer not to mail your print. We do not take a commission on the
sale of juried show works that were printed here at the gallery, we do
however retain the 5.3% sales tax.
