Now through March 31st 2014, the California Academy of Sciences is
inviting photographers to enter Big
Picture: Natural World Photography Competition for a chance
to win a share of the $20,000 in cash and Calumet photography gear
prizes and to have your images exhibited on the public floor of one of
the most prestigious science museums in the world from August 1st to
November 2nd 2014. So, whom do you have to impress to win? The
list of
judges is rather impressive.

Details
Enter your images into the
BigPicture Natural World Photography Competition by March 31st 2014 for
your chance to win a share of the $20,000 in cash and prizes with a
$5,000 cash prize to the grand prize winner. Your $25 entry fee permits
you to enter up to 10 images into the competition.
Eligibility
The Competition is open to all photographers worldwide, except
employees, volunteers and Board Members of the California Academy of
Sciences (“Academy”) and the immediate families and individuals living
in the same household as such employees, volunteers and Board Members.
The Academy reserves the right to verify, in its sole judgment, entrant
eligibility. The Competition is void where prohibited.
Age
Divisions
Photographers (ages 18 and above) should enter images in one of the
official categories. The same photo cannot be entered in more than one
category. Judges reserve the right to switch images to other
categories. Kids and youth should enter their images into their
respective age division. Entrants must not
submit images that involve the willful harassment of wildlife or damage
to the environment by the photographer. Baiting of wildlife is
prohibited.
- Adult
Division: Photographers at least 18 years of age on the
closing date of the competition. Adults should enter their images into
one of the five official competition categories. Each category will
have a first place winner, a runner up, and up to 10 honorable mention
winners.
- Youth
Division: This division is open to young photographers who
are aged 12 to 17 on the closing date of the competition. Youth will
simply enter up to 10 images (of any of the official category subjects)
into their age division. Youth division entrants between the ages 12 to
17 on the final day of the entry period, who are selected as winners,
must provide a release executed by their parent or guardian agreeing to
the terms of the Official Rules to qualify as final winners.
- Kids
Division: This division is open to young photographers who
are aged 5 to 11 on the closing date of the competition. Kids will
simply enter up to 10 images (of any of the official category subjects)
into their age division. Kids division entrants between the ages 5 to
11 on the final day of the entry period, who are selected as winners,
must provide a release executed by their parent or guardian agreeing to
the terms of the Official Rules to qualify as final winners.
