Artist: Shelby Lee Adams
Hosted
by the Colorado Photographic Arts Center
May 1 - 4,
2014
Renowned photographer Shelby Lee Adams is coming to Denver! Hosted by
the Colorado
Photographic Arts Center, Shelby will deliver an artist
talk and book signing at the Denver Art Museum backed with a 3-day
intensive workshop (events are separate - registration for the workshop
also confirms your admission to the talk). Adams’ photographs of the
people of Appalachia have long been praised for their rare humanity and
grace.
First enjoy an Evening with Shelby Lee Adams as he discusses his
process as a portrait photographer and his latest book, "Salt &
Truth".
Then the 3-day workshop is a chance to work closely with Shelby
while developing your own eye for portraiture and the
environment. All
photographers are welcome in this workshop. Students should have a good
working knowledge of their cameras as well as a desire to expand their
portraiture practice. Students should brings cameras and may shoot with
film or digitally. Photographing on location with lighting equipment,
models and the instructor, students will experiment with professional
lighting equipment on location in natural light, learning ratios and
balancing lighting. This workshop includes classroom instruction, one
full day of shooting on location and a concluding critique with Shelby.
Shelby Lee Adams was born in Hazard, Kentucky, in 1950 and educated at
