Photographers - Deadline: May 7th, 2014
Theme: Dreams and Imagination
Black Box Gallery will host a juried group
photography exhibition on dreams and imagination in the photographic
arts. Dreams: Illusion and Fantasy will look at the role of fiction and
fantasy, narrative and artistic voice, mystery and illusions, conscious
and unconscious, ethereal and symbolic, and abstracted reality in
contemporary photographic practices.
Juror:
Jessica Johnston
Jessica Johnston is an Assistant Curator in the Department of
Photography at George Eastman House, International Museum of
Photography and Film, in Rochester, NY, the oldest and largest museum
of its kind, established in 1946 with a mission to collect, preserve
and interpret photographs and related objects to tell the story of
photography and its related media. She is responsible for developing
exhibitions, recommending acquisitions, caring for the collection and
teaching in the museum’s Master of Art's program in Photographic
Preservation and Collections Management. Ms. Johnston has worked at
George Eastman House since 2006.
Exhibition Dates: June 1-20, 2014
Opening
Reception: Friday June 6, 5-8:00 pm
Each
exhibition will have 24 photographs included by the juror for exhibiton
at the gallery.
An additional 30 photographs will be selected for inclusion in our
On-Line Gallery Annex.
All photographs from the show will be included in a catalog available
for purchase on Blurb Books.
Notification
All photographers will be notified
7-10 days after the deadline about juror selections.
Entry
Fee
$35 per entry (an entry includes up to 5 photos).
Eligibility
The exhibition is open to all
photographers world wide, both amateur and professional.
