1650 Gallery is hosting the juried photography exhibition
 LANDSCAPES: THE BIG COUNTRY

Landscape photography conjures romantic notions of large scale view cameras, pre-dawn hikes and placid zone system calculations a world away from the harried routine of contemporary urban dwellers. Formerly the domain of only the hardiest of tripod-toters, modern photo technology has now brought the peaceful easy feeling of the big country to anyone with strength enough to lift a dslr. This month 1650 celebrates from the mountains to the prairies, with waves of Amber grain thrown in for good measure!

From redwood forests to gulf stream waters, 1650 gallery wants to know the lay of your land! From the big country to the Big Easy, from moon rise to sunset, to the hissing of summer lawns under starry starry nights, grab a straw hat, point your camera earthward and send us your results. This month at 1650, it's all about Mother Earth as we get down to the terra firma of landscape photography with The Big Country!

Approximately fifty works will be chosen from submitted photographs to be included in the
LANDSCAPES exhibition at 1650 Gallery in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Additional works may also be selected for an online gallery exhibition page.There is an entry fee of $30 for five images. Additional entries may be submitted for $5 each.

Juror: Andrew Overtoom is an award winning filmmaker and photographer living in Los Angeles. He publishes THE UNDEAD NEG photography blog. He is also the owner/curator of 1650 Gallery in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.
