The
Franz and Virginia Bader Fund makes grants to visual artists
to enable
recipients to concentrate on their art. At least one grant is awarded
annually.
Eligibility
and Restrictions
The
Franz and Virginia Bader Fund welcomes applications from visual artists
aged 40 years or older, who live within 150 miles of Washington, D.C.,
and can demonstrate that they have the potential to benefit as artists
from a grant. The Franz and Virginia Bader Fund does not, however,
accept applications from filmmakers, video artists, and performance
artists.
Grants
may be used for any purposes relating to the recipients’ work as
artists.
Size of
Awards
In
December 2013, the Franz and Virginia Bader Fund awarded four grants
totaling $65,000.
Deadline
The
Franz and Virginia Bader Fund has an annual deadline: Applications must
be postmarked no later than September 15.
Selection
Process
Following
submission of a complete set of application materials, applicants may
be contacted by Fund staff for further information. All information
given by applicants is subject to verification by the Franz and
Virginia Bader Fund. The selection committee reviews eligible
applications in the fall. The Fund notifies applicants of the outcome
of their applications before the end of the calendar year. Decisions
reached by the Franz and Virginia Bader Fund are final.
