1650 Gallery is hosting the
juried photography exhibition
THE
DARK SIDE
NIGHT
PHOTOGRAPHY
The jazzy neon glow of a motel sign... the silver hush of a moonlit
landscape... the hollow loneliness of deserted city street lamps... the
raucous revelry of a nightclub at midnight.... NIGHT holds a special
place in the heart of photography. The geometry of light and shadow
creates an interplay of mystery, possibility, and the foreboding that
accompanies paths of the unknown.
This October, as Halloween looms large on the horizon, 1650 invites you
to visit THE DARK SIDE: A Juried Exhibit of Night Photography.
Photographic greats such as Brassai, George Tice, Peter Hujar, Weegee
and Robert Brook are just a few examples of those who have contributed
great works in the genre of night photography. This month, at 1650, it
is your turn.
Approximately fifty works will be chosen from submitted photographs to
be included in the THE DARK SIDE
exhibition at 1650 Gallery in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los
Angeles. Additional works may also be selected for an online gallery
exhibition page.
There is an entry fee of $30 for up to 5 images.
Additional entries may be submitted for $5 each.
We
offer free matting and framing for accepted photographs that fit our
pre-cut mat sizes for the duration of the exhibition. We have a variety
of frames and mats to choose from. All accepted entries will be
displayed at 1650 Gallery exhibition and included in the show catalog.
Artists are responsible for supplying their own artwork. We will print
your photo for a nominal fee if you are accepted into the show and
would prefer not to mail a print.
