DEADLINE OCTOBER 06, 2014 - $3000 in Awards Women In Art ~ An Exhibition on Herstory and Themes of Identity Calls for Submissions - Acrylic, Ceramics, Digital Media, Fiber, Graphic Design, Drawing/Illustration, Mixed media, Sculpture, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Watercolor Art Gallery Open to women artists residing in the United States. The exhibition will present works that reflect women’s stories, culture, and themes of identity. Diversity of sociocultural content and representation is sought. Entry is open to all artistic styles and mediums: 2D (painting, photography, printmaking, collage, etc.), 3D (sculpture, ceramics, etc.), installation, and interactive works. This is intended to be a group exhibition of 8 to 10 artists. Artists selected for exhibition will receive a stipend of $300. Submission Requirements: Artists working in 2D and 3D formats submit 1 to 15 digital images of available work for the exhibition. Artists may also submit a proposal for the creation of new work(s) based on 3 to 6 images of past work for review. Installations that incorporate sound must include an audio track with the submitted image. Please include resume, artist statement, and an image list (title, medium, dimensions, date created, sale price) correlated to the submitted images (number each image and item on the image list to match accordingly). Note: the Gallery has an extended ceiling of 22ft high in a 15’ long by 20’ deep area with installation mounts for large-scale hanging works. Send submissions to the Gallery address below.

Judging this exhibition: Sean Ulmer, Director of the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. Description: This open-call juried exhibition invites submissions that explore issues surrounding the human body. From classic nudes to contemporary interpretations of the human form, the figure remains a vital and viable subject of exploration for artists in all media. From portraits (yes, selfies too) to full figure, from naturalistic to abstract, all styles and media are welcome to submit to this conversation about how and why we present the body as a subject for art. Judge: Sean Ulmer, Director of the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, was the Curator of Collections and Exhibitions at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art since 2005, has a broad array of museum experience including curatorial work at the University of Michigan Museum of Art, Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University and the Ohio State University Wexner Center for the Arts. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Toledo and the Ohio State University, respectively. Exhibition Duration:This exhibition is scheduled for November 6 – November 28, 2014. Eligible artists must be 18+ years of age and ship work from within the United States. 2D and 3D work is welcome. THEME- According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of animals is: "a living thing that is not a human being or plant." This can be xpressed many ways and we look forward to seeing your interpretation. CASH AWARDS will be given. THe amount is based on the number of entries. Best of show winner will be featured. His or her work will be on the cover of the show and it will be largely displayed with an article about them and their work. Other winners will be featured with similar recognition. A portrait is a visual representation that portrays the likeness of a person, place, animal, or object. All capture types and photographic processes welcome. JUROR - Debra Klomp Ching is the owner and director of the Klompching Gallery in New York, founded in 2007 in partnership with Darren Ching. The gallery specializes in the sale and exhibition of contemporary fine art photography, and is a member of the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD). HONORS & AWARDS - With selection for this exhibition, the artists are invited to join C4FAP on the reception weekend for review with the juror, Debora Klomp Ching, and the Executive Director, Hamidah Glasgow. There will also be a group portfolio share and an artists’ lunch at C4FAP. An international audience of collectors, curators, art consultants and other advocates of fine art photography will view the chosen artist’s work throughout the exhibition. Each participant is included in the Center’s Main Gallery exhibition in Fort Collins, Colorado and Online Gallery exhibition. In order to be included in the online gallery or to receive an award, you must provide a professionally printed and framed/mounted image for gallery exhibition. The ArtWalk construction begins August 27, 2014, and will be finished June 2015. This sculpture should be significant in size and be able to hold its own as an entryway piece. Subject matter is limited to recent works on the landscape, environment, wildlife and people of Yosemite or the environment of the Sierra. Both representational and non-representational submissions are accepted. Original artwork may be in any medium including the following: Painting (any medium); Photography/Digital; and Other (All other two- and three-dimensional media, including drawings, pastels, printmaking, textiles, and all 3-dimensional works). Size is limited to works that can be shipped in containers not exceeding maximum U.P.S. dimensions of 130 inches, length and girth combined (girth is the distance around the package). The many emotions associated with this disease can both bring us together and tear us apart. Where there is loss there is anger, where there is strength there is support and where there is perseverance there is hope. In this call for art we want to see the many faces associated with The Big C. Calls are open to all local, domestic, national and international professional and amateur artists. All art mediums will be considered in this call for submissions, from photography, wall sculpture, fabric, mixed media, all paintings and drawings including, oil, acrylic, pastels, ink, graphite, etc. Sizes up to 12 feet are acceptable. Work must be able to be hung on a wall to be considered for the live exhibition. Freestanding 3D artworks will be displayed online only. We are now accepting video and poetry entries for online shows. Accepted entries for this online exhibition will be judged again in the coming months for a collective live exhibition at our Los Angeles gallery. The artists will be asked if they wish to submit their artwork for the collective exhibition, which is not a requirement to being a part of the online exhibition. Juried by a panel of three college-level photography instructors (TBD). 1st Place College and 1st Place High School are each granted $2,000 and awarded a Nikon D7100 HD-SLR camera; 2nd Place in each division: $1,000 cash grant; 3rd Place: $500. DEADLINE NOVEMBER 24, 2014 - $2500 in Awards National Art Encounter Competition 2015 Contests, Juried Art Shows - Acrylic, Ceramics, Digital Media, Fiber, Drawing/Illustration, Mixed media, Sculpture, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Watercolor Art Organization The Naples Art Association at The von Liebig Art Center invites all artists residing in the United States to enter one original artwork in any media for the National Art Encounter Competition 2015. The fine art exhibition will be installed in the Frederick O. Watson Gallery at The von Liebig Art Center in Naples, Florida from March 14 through April 18, 2015. The von Liebig Art Center is located in the heart of the 5th Avenue South shopping, dining and entertainment district. Juror, Dr. Carol Damian, Professor of Art History in the School of Art and Art History and the Past Director and Chief Curator of the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University. She is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts and received her Master of Arts degree in Pre-Columbian Art and her Ph.D. in Latin American History from the University of Miami. A specialist in Latin American and Caribbean Art, she teaches classes in Pre-Columbian, Colonial, Spanish and Contemporary Latin American Art, Modern Art surveys and Women in Art. Her most recent work has been with Latin American Women and the Cuban exile artists, for whom she has written numerous catalogs and articles. She is the author of The Virgin of the Andes: Art and Ritual in Colonial Cuzco (Grassfield Press, 1995) and is the Miami correspondent for Art Nexus and Arte al Dia. Dr. Damian lectures frequently on Latin American and Caribbean art, has curated numerous exhibitions and is a consultant for US Customs/Homeland Security. Entry fee $40 ($25 for NAA members). RESIDENCY DATES: February 16 - 27, 2015. Dacia Gallery invites emerging and established artists to participate in an exciting Artist Residency program in New York City. Dacia's Artist Residency provides an academic program to inspire, refine and redefine the creative direction of artists in a figure painting intensive two-week program. The application is open to visual artists worldwide, including all mediums and styles of artwork. We are accepting artists that want to dedicate their time to painting, learning the ins and outs of the New York art world and exploring all the wonderful opportunities that the city has to offer artists. Art classes will alternate between figurative painting and drawing, the business of art, guest speakers and lecturers. We will explore the contemporary art galleries of Chelsea and the Lower East Side and visit the great museums of New York.
