Photography Exhibition

Photography
Photo Gallery
Photography at first blush has often
been thought of as a literal or pictorial art, and the withering truth
of the camera lens has often held the power to open hearts and change
minds. But beyond realism and narrative, documentary and expose lies
another universe of possibilities -- a universe where the formal rules
of focus, composition and exposure don't necessarily apply anymore. It
is a world of "anything goes", where the elements of light, shadow,
texture, color and line combine to form images of emotional power or
visual beauty, stark contrasts or subtle shades of tonality -- the
world of ABSTRACTS. It is a world without boundaries, real or imagined
-- as unlimited as the photographer's imagination. This month, let your
imagination run wild as 1650 Gallery explores the world of Abstract
Photography! Open to all photographic methods and techniques, digital
or analog, subject matter is unlimited; real or imagined --
recognizable or not! There are no rules, so just have fun, make some
good photos and show 'em to us! SHOOT NOW AND ASK QUESTIONS LATER, THIS
MONTH ONLY, AS 1650 TURNS OUR MIND'S EYE TOWARD ABSTRACTS!
Approximately fifty works will be chosen from submitted photographs to
be included in the ABSTRACTS 2015 exhibition at 1650 Gallery in the
Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Additional works may also be
selected for an online gallery exhibition page. Best In Show, 2nd Place
and 3rd Place will be awarded and posted online after the show opening.

ARTROM Network has been sponsoring
on-line International Art Competitions since 2004. We are a leader in
the field and are known for our professionality, design sense and
determination to bring visibility and new opportunities to the
participating artists. Any artist who participates in an ARTROM
Network, TOPTEN International Art Competition begins a collaborative
rapport with the network. Artists who submit work to the competitions
are listed in our growing database of international artists. ARTROM
Network uses this database for selecting artists for further
opportunities; exhibitions in Rome, art projects, intercultural
collaborations, on-line exhibitions, etc. Does your art have the power
to capture the viewer, make them move past a glance and bring their
total attention to the present moment in front of your work? ARTROM
Network invites international artists to participate in "Art of
Contemplation", a TOPTEN International Art Competition. This
competition focuses on artworks that evoke "the immediacy of a quiet
conversation", a contemplative relationship between the art and the
viewer; a dialogue which manifests as the viewer considers, reflects
and explores with continued attention. Contemplation is an active and
participatory process, dynamic and ever-changing.

Art Organization
We are excited to announce our sixth
annual national juried art show, Wide Open 6 and its prestigious
juror—Rujeko Hockley, Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art at the
Brooklyn Museum of Art. With her direction, we look forward to a really
awesome show. $3000 in cash prizes will be awarded including $1000 Best
in Show. The exhibit runs May 9 - June 14, 2015. The broad theme of
"Wide Open 6" encompasses all the possibilities of knowledge and
freedom and love—wide open spaces…arms wide open…eyes wide open—but as
with all things, there is the inevitable opposite—wide open to
attack…corruption…failure. What kind of fantasy is this? What does it
really indicate? This juried show looks to explore this idea of "wide
open" in all the hidden niches of our collective psyche. Ours is a
truly unique gallery—a massive Civil War-era warehouse on the Red Hook
waterfront in Brooklyn, NY. Its enormous space affords us the
opportunity to exhibit really huge work, and we welcome it. We will be
using 8,000 square feet for this show, and look forward to exhibiting
artist's work from all around the country, work in all sizes, subjects,
and media, except film (it's almost completely wide open). This call
for submissions is open to all residents of the U.S. and its
Territories 18 years of age or older. This is a juried exhibition for
artists working in all traditional and non-traditional 2-D and 3-D
media, including film/video when part of an installation. All artwork
must be original in concept, design and execution. All work should be
non-utilitarian in nature. This is a fine art exhibition.
