Call for Entry: Submit photographs to: The Creative Self-Portrait

Online Event - Calls for Submissions - Photography Online Gallery

There is a history of self portraiture which is changing due to the advent of the cell phone and the rise of "selfie" style image making. We would like you to push the boundaries of your image making and find something more challenging than the ubiquitous cell phone selfies. Plato actually rejected the concept of creativity, preferring to see art as a form of discovery. Surrender to what has been convenient and think of new levels of art making and think beyond what you see everyday. LA Photo Curator is proud to have Jane Szabo as this month's curator for "The Creative Self-Portrait." In 2014 Szabo's, "Sense of Self", solo exhibition ran at the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art. L.A. Photo Curator is in the business of cultivating emerging photographic artists by showing and reviewing their work online in our monthly competitions. We believe that great photographs can fund great social causes so 20% of the monthly artist fees go to the charity of the monthly curator's choice and also to the charity of the first place winner's choice. (10% to each.)The First Place winner gets a review of their work by the monthly curator mentioned upfront. One or more of the other curators on our roster will add comments to the piece. Also included will be the artists bio, contact info & Q&A with L.A. Photo Curator making a substantial article for the artist to have online for their portfolio. The monthly curator also chooses a Second Place winner & 3 Honorable Mentions which will show their work, bio's & website info.

A photographic exhibit featuring abandoned architecture of small towns and back roads of rural America, the schoolhouses, homesteads, old vehicles and the structures that are, slowly, being reclaimed by the land. The Forgotten laughter of children, smoke rising from the chimney on a cold winter morning. Faded wood, broken mortar walls that are no longer square and paint weathered by wind, rain and time. Some may be restored but most will become one with fields and trees of the rural landscape. LithaMoonGallery is looking for 40 amazing images to showcase in this exhibition. Any photographic process is acceptable. An award of $350.00 for Best in Show.

BLACK & WHITE - National Juried Art Show NYC

Calls for Submissions - Acrylic Art Organization

We are excited to announce our second Black & White National Juried art show, opening August 1, 2015. This year, we are privileged to have another of NY's art elite as our juror, Christiane Paul, Adjunct Curator of Media Arts at the Whitney Museum of American Art. $3000 in cash prizes will be awarded, including $1000 Best in Show Gold. The exhibit runs Aug 1 - Aug 23, 2015. We bathe in the beauty of color and spin thousands of words describing the experience that the cone cells transmit to our brain. In reality, they are not nearly as numerous as our rods, the cells that register light and dark, the black and white of our experience. Our rods are less articulated in language; fewer words are generated to describe that experience. Black and white is primal, the underneath, the foundation, of the opulence of color; black and white is where we register motion and, when the cones do not have sufficient light, our rods optimize our survival in the night woods. Black and White intends to explore this underground of survival and few words. Ours is a truly unique gallery—a massive Civil War-era warehouse on the Red Hook waterfront in Brooklyn, NY. Its enormous space affords us the opportunity to exhibit really huge work, and we welcome it. This call for submissions is open to all residents of the U.S. and its Territories 18 years of age or older. This is a juried exhibition for artists working in all traditional and non-traditional 2-D and 3-D media, including film/video when part of an installation. All work should be non-utilitarian in nature. This is a fine art exhibition.
