Gallery - Picturing America Photography Exhibition
Hot dogs, baseball, apple pie, jazz, military
interventions, cowboy boots, gay marriage, bad tv, great tv, vacations,
kids, dudes, crowds, buses, concerts, houses, hotels, churches,
chevrolets, Hollywood, Washington DC, small towns, inner cities, city
slickers, hillbillies, hippies, tough guys and girls, girls girls! The
U.S. is all this and much more, so this July 4th, 1650 Gallery hosts
PICTURING AMERICA, a photo essay of all views of the multi-layered
American experience, from photographers home and abroad. Wherever you
live, whatever your viewpoint; 1650 wants the good, the bad, the
beautiful and the ugly.
So as July 4th approaches, grab your camera and get ready to go full
ROBERT FRANK as you delve into the mix of Americana near and far; big
town, small town, Motown, rent-to-own town. This time, an honest eye is
the best policy as we photograph what surrounds us in PICTURING
AMERICA.
Approximately fifty works will be chosen from submitted photographs to
be included in the PICTURING AMERICA Photography 2015
exhibition at 1650 Gallery in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los
Angeles. Additional works may also be selected for an online gallery
exhibition page.
There is an entry fee of $30 for up to 5 images. Additional entries may
be submitted for $5 each. We offer free matting and framing for
accepted photographs that fit our pre-cut mat sizes for the duration of
the exhibition.

AWARDS:
Best In Show, 2nd Place
and 3rd Place will be awarded and posted online
after the show opening. Award winning photos will be featured on the
show page and Best In Show winners will have a
small portfolio of their work (up to 10 images) featured in our 1650
Spotlight gallery of photographic excellence.
All Awards winners will also be featured in our 1650 Gallery
newsletter, which is broadcast via email to our mailing list. Getting
the word out about artists we're excited about helps you do more great
work, helps us show more great work, and helps keep the often insular
world of fine art photography more diverse and vibrant.
