Greetings from TheArtList.com!
"It's been said that the role of the artist is to teach us to see and that's true. However, the role of other artists is to teach me how they see. PH21 Gallery: Call for Entries - Stories
Calls for Submissions
-
Photography
Photo Gallery
STORIES. A juried international photography exhibition. July 9–29, 2015. Exhibit in Europe! Photographs are often associated with the capturing of a moment frozen in time. Nevertheless, photography has always been a sensitive storytelling medium as well. Looking at a photograph may allow for understanding much about the past that led up to the captured moment; it may also enable the viewer to imagine the possible futures evolving from the frozen record of the here and now. Photographers
portraying people, objects, and places can tell us inspiring stories, provided that we take the time to study and interpret the photographs. A narrative told with a single image is a most exciting challenge for both photographer and viewer alike. Hopefully we appreciate these works with the care and curiosity they deserve. After our very successful Stories exhibition in 2014, this year PH21 Gallery invites photographers again to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Stories. We are
looking for submissions from all photographers who think that their submitted images tell us a story, and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; it may be expressed visually on personal or social levels, literally or in abstract, symbolic ways. Stories can be told about persons, communities, objects, and places as well. Indeed, we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations
of the theme. Submission deadline: June 7, 2015.

Call For Submissions - Focus: Grayscale
Contests, Juried Art Shows

Photography
Art Gallery
A juried group photo show on black and white photography. There is often a classic, nostalgic and dynamic translation to black and white photography. Black and white has an important tradition of luminous, well-crafted and thoughtfully composed imagery. Contemporary photographers are involved in this dialog of history and tradition, but with their own modern voice, visions and aesthetics of imagery. Juror: Lauren Henkin. Henkin's work is focused on the tension between preservation and
extinction as told through the American landscape.

BLACK & WHITE - National Juried Art Show NYC
Calls for Submissions
-
Acrylic
Art Organization
We are excited to announce our second Black & White National Juried art show, opening August 1, 2015. This year, we are privileged to have another of NY's art elite as our juror, Christiane Paul, Adjunct Curator of Media Arts at the Whitney Museum of American Art. $3000 in cash prizes will be awarded, including $1000 Best in Show Gold. The exhibit runs Aug 1 - Aug 23, 2015. We bathe in the beauty of color and spin thousands of words describing the experience that the cone cells transmit to
our brain. In reality, they are not nearly as numerous as our rods, the cells that register light and dark, the black and white of our experience. Our rods are less articulated in language; fewer words are generated to describe that experience. Black and white is primal, the underneath, the foundation, of the opulence of color; black and white is where we register motion and, when the cones do not have sufficient light, our rods optimize our survival in the night woods. Black and White intends
to explore this underground of survival and few words. Ours is a truly unique gallery—a massive Civil War-era warehouse on the Red Hook waterfront in Brooklyn, NY. Its enormous space affords us the opportunity to exhibit really huge work, and we welcome it. This call for submissions is open to all residents of the U.S. and its Territories 18 years of age or older. This is a juried exhibition for artists working in all traditional and non-traditional 2-D and 3-D media, including film/video when
part of an installation. All work should be non-utilitarian in nature. This is a fine art exhibition.

The broad theme of "UNBOUND, VOL V" encompasses all of the possibilities of what we may think or may not think a "book" is. Is it story? An entry to another world? An exploration? What does it indicate? This juried show looks to explore these ideas of "the book" and all the ways artists use its format as a stepping off point or as a material to explore new ideas. An exhibit sponsored by ArtisTree Art Gallery and Pentangle Arts Council in conjunction with the Bookstock Literary Festival. Open
