1650 Gallery - Trees Photography Exhibition
Trees. They say dog is man's
best friend, but perhaps it is
the tree? We yearn to be near them; they hold a special place in the
heart. Givers of shelter and sustenance, they feed our bodies and our
souls. They inspire through beauty, whether the flowers of an orchard,
a mountain-side of birch, or a single old oak or spindly sapling. Trees
provide community and companionship; we live and love in their shadow.
Home to bird and bug, man and beast alike; the tree asks nothing in
return but a place to spread it's branches in the sun and a patch of
earth to put down roots. It won't come when you call, but it's dogged
permanence in spite of the wild twists and turns of our own peripatetic
lives is what charms us so. So giving is the tree, it synthesizes the
very oxygen we breathe; a dandy bit of magic indeed!

So
this month at 1650, let's turn over a new leaf and give props to the
magical world of TREES. Without whom, we would literally be nothing.
Approximately fifty works will be chosen from submitted photographs to
be included in the TREES Photography 2015
exhibition at 1650 Gallery in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los
Angeles. Additional works may also be selected for an online gallery
exhibition page.
There is an entry fee of $30
for up to 5 images. Additional entries may be submitted for $5 each. We
offer free matting and framing for accepted photographs that fit our
pre-cut mat sizes for the duration of the exhibition.

AWARDS:
Best In Show, 2nd Place
and 3rd Place will be awarded and posted online
after the show opening. Award winning photos will be featured on the
show page and Best In Show winners
will have a small portfolio of their work (up to 10 images) featured in
our 1650 Spotlight gallery of photographic excellence.
All
Awards winners will also be featured in our 1650 Gallery newsletter,
which is broadcast via email to our mailing list. Getting the word out
about artists we're excited about helps you do more great work, helps
us show more great work, and helps keep the often insular world of fine
art photography more diverse and vibrant.
