Sliced and diced mash-ups; image, texture, text seem to be bubbling to the top. Rising up along side are works of intense chroma, the color saturated and layered, blowing out the boundaries between figuration and abstraction. 2D and 3D are encouraged. Midwest Pressed are hot for this. Show us what you’ve got. Judges: Aaron Wilson and Tim Dooley founded Midwest Pressed in 2011 in Cedar Falls Iowa. It grew out of collaborative artworks that began through teaching as colleagues at the University of Northern Iowa. They produce a wide array of artworks ranging from fine art prints and public projects to printed ephemera. The artwork can be generally characterized as intensive, colorful and layered, but the pair of artists are primarily known for using the printmaking medium in an experimental fashion, including sculptural applications and installations. Their extensive body of artwork has been shown widely around the United States. Their work is featured in a number of recent publications on printmaking such as The Complete Engraver, Princeton Architectural Press, 2012; Printmaking: A Complete Guide to Materials and Processes, Prentice Hall, 2009, and A Survey of Contemporary Printmaking, Ladymuse, 2012.

It's transience confounds us, here today yet gone tomorrow; literally vaporizing into thin air like youth, innocence and physical beauty. Water! A bundle of contradictions that would make Ralph Waldo Emerson proud. Endlessly fun but dangerous stuff; sometimes there is too little... sometimes there is too much. It's beauty can take our breath away, and it's power can wipe our world like the bucket toss of an angry giant. Like fire, cold and night, water occupies a fundamental place deep in the root of our collective psyche. We can be "keeping our head above water" or "drowning our sorrows." Things can be going "swimmingly" or life can seem to be go "against the tide." In love we can be "showered with kisses" or wind up "on the rocks." This month 1650 Gallery invites you to flush the bilge water from your mind and dive into the deep end for an ocean of fun. Freud said sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, but Christie Brinkley in a moonlit motel pool is a whole other thing altogether. So bathe your soul in the stormy sea of photographic creativity, and remember that although a river runs through it, it is but a drop in the bucket compared to the ocean of possibilities that rain down upon us all. Approximately fifty works will be chosen from submitted photographs to be included in the SPLASH Photography 2015 exhibition at 1650 Gallery in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Whether you're a local or a visitor, in this call we want to see your creative impressions of various aspects/perspectives of a city or cities of your choosing. Calls are open to all local, domestic, national and international professional and amateur artists. All art mediums will be considered in this call for submissions, from photography, wall sculpture, fabric, mixed media, all paintings and drawings including, oil, acrylic, pastels, ink, graphite, etc. Sizes up to 12 feet are acceptable. Work must be able to be hung on a wall to be considered for the live exhibition. Freestanding 3D artworks will be displayed online only. We are now accepting video and poetry entries for online shows. GFCF assists hungry people in developing food security. Since 1983 , GFCF has provided grants upwards of $400,000 annually to community development programs in 32 countries. The City of Coral Springs Public Art Committee is accepting submissions from artists for a public art opportunity in the new Municipal Complex. It is desired that the finished project be a series of integrated artworks within the building’s interior or site structures (i.e.: building floor, pillars, hanging art from walls or ceiling, wall fountain, fountain, chandeliers, kinetic, interactive structures). Design of the building has begun and the selected artist will work with the facility architect, Song & Associates, to create an impactful, integrated project that will reflect the Municipal Complex’s over-all look. The selected artist will be expected to engage with City staff, the project architect and area residents to develop the concept for their work. Crisp air, colorful leaves and the beginning of the end to a new year, are just some reasons to love the autumn season! In this call we want to see your interpretation of art that typifies this beautiful season! Calls are open to all local, domestic, national and international professional and amateur artists. All art mediums will be considered in this call for submissions, from photography, wall sculpture, fabric, mixed media, all paintings and drawings including, oil, acrylic, pastels, ink, graphite, etc. Sizes up to 12 feet are acceptable. Work must be able to be hung on a wall to be considered for the live exhibition. Freestanding 3D artworks will be displayed online only. We are now accepting video and poetry entries for online shows. Accepted entries for this online exhibition will be judged again in the coming months for a collective live exhibition at our Los Angeles gallery. The artists will be asked if they wish to submit their artwork for the collective exhibition, which is not a requirement to being a part of the online exhibition. Cost: $35 for 3 entries, $5 for additional entries.

Contemporary Art Projects USA has been accepted to exhibit our unique fundraising juried international call for artist “Help-Hope-Nepal Mural”, sponsored by Major Corporations, at Spectrum Fair Miami 2015, December 2-6, 2015. Four Hundred Artists will come together to create the mural to benefit April 2015 Nepal Earthquake victims through the MAITIRELIEFFUND as well as a low cost to be able exhibit at a Major Fair during Art Basel Week; all innovative media will be accepted, including: painting, photography, 3D printing, digital art, and mixed media. The Engaged Object exhibition will explore how fine craft artists are using jewelry, ceramics, glass, wood, textiles, and other fine craft processes to make social and political statements. Throughout history, craft has played a significant role in radically re-imagining existing societies and has been deeply involved in transforming ideas about a variety of economic, political and cultural issues. This exhibition will expand the public’s view of the role of fine craft as it both reflects and influences our ideas, viewpoints, and attitudes and will be of particular interest to visitors during the 2016 election year. Foothills Art Center (FAC) has invited some of the most important craft artists working today who address political and social issues through their work. Invited artists include Al Farrow, Ron Geibel, Charlotte Kruk, Robert Mickelsen, Ann Morton, and Richard Notkin. The remaining works will be selected by FAC curator, Marianne Lorenz, and FAC Exhibition Manager, Becky Guy.

On a sunny window sill, clinging precariously to a mountain crevice or pushing determinately through concrete. Prolific and fleeting, flowers reflect the divine in nature, words, dreams and paint. LithaMoonGallery, Greensboro, Georgia, is looking for 35-40 works in watercolour. The theme for the competition is flowers, gardens or woodland/meadow scenes where flowers are the dominant subject. Blue Marble, refers to the spectacular color image of planet Earth taken with NASA’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer. The theme for this exhibition welcomes artists who delve into subjects, themes, and motifs that have to do with our planet. Contemporary original 2D and 3D work in any media, including paintings, prints, drawings, photography, sculpture, and fine craft produced within the last two years is appropriate. 2D work should not exceed 36 inches in the longest dimension. 3D work is limited to 24 inches in the longest dimension and not more than 60 pounds for the whole piece. The exhibition is open to artists living in the United States over the age of 18.(SLOMA) is pleased to have Patricia Watts as juror for Blue Marble. She is founder and west coast curator of Ecoartspace. She has curated over thirty art and ecology exhibitions. She is currently working as an independent curator for the Marin Community Foundation in Novato, California and on a multi-year statewide residency project in New Mexico entitled Getting Off the Planet.FeeThere is a nonrefundable entry fee for up to three pieces. Graffiti Photo Contest

My name is Robert Paterson, and I am a composer based in New York City. I am also the Artistic Director for the highly-acclaimed American Modern Ensemble. I am creating a new choral work for Volti, a choir in San Francisco, entitled "Graffiti Canons". With this project and and many others, I have been interested in setting unconventional texts, and working artists from other disciplines. In this case, I am interested in using text from high-quality photographs of graffiti that is graffiti that includes sentences and phrases, and in particular, quotes, sayings or other texts that would be considered graffiti. The chosen images will be compiled into a slide show and/or a video that will be shown along with performances of the choral work. Each photo will include a caption with the name of the photographer. Please do not submit purely graphic images or texts that contain profanity. Graffiti may be from any country or state, from any time period, and in any language. The more diverse, the better. If the text is not in English, please include a translation. NOTE: submitted photos should be high-quality, 300dpi images that are 8X10 or as large as possible. The maximum file size our photo contest supports is 50MB. Users can upload JPG or PNG files. Winners will need to sign a letter of agreement allowing the chosen photo to be used for all artistic and promotional purposes associated with this choral work.
