March Contest Winners
Artist of The Month Winner

Congratulations to TheArtList.com's March Artist of the Month Grand Prize Winner, Madhini Nirmal.
Madhini’s paintings draw from a rich storehouse of memories of impromptu nature walks, bird watching and feeding deer, all of which were a part of her childhood spent in Chennai, India.

Concepts such as silence, the sublime, ecology, veganism and yoga interest Madhini at present. Madhini follows a vegan lifestyle with as few chemical products possible. These are small steps in the direction of a life that is sensitive to the rhythm of nature.

2nd Place Winner

Congratulations to TheArtList.com's 2nd Place Winner -  Kat Warren. Kat says "My brushstrokes represent the threads of a story which, when united on canvas, translate into beauty and joy as well as the unexpected experienced each day. A crafted balance between light and dark, order and chaos, rich colors and lush textures enables my desire to share the visions from my head and the feelings from my heart.

My art soothes the strain of dealing with life’s uncertainties. In 2012, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. I quickly learned to soak up a host of unexpected blessings and understanding that came with the “package”. My art has linked me with others in ways I never could have imagined. I create palettes of color on canvas positioned to inspire, excite, stimulate and translate universal truths."

Viewer's Choice Award Winner

Congratulations to Viewer's Choice Winner - Michelle Johnson Fairchild with 318 votes! Michelle says "I'm an artist—and I'm passionate about helping others discover and explore art in life. I am also a survivor of domestic violence. My art isn't a survivor's story. It is a thriver's story. My unique perspective delivers a variety of creative media for galleries, individual clients, business owners, small groups and other organizations."

What's New Pussycat? Photography Exhibition

Contests, Juried Art Shows - Photography Photo Gallery

Cats... love 'em or hate 'em, they surround us. They rule our world with a furry sharp-clawed fist. They allow us to live with them — as long as we abide by their rules. Step out of line, and you will feel their wrath. So... what's a human to do? PHOTOGRAPH THEM, of course! That's right, 1650 Gallery is hosting a juried photo exhibition of the love 'em or leave 'em world of cats. While we're thinking mostly of Felis Domestica (the common house cat), if you have shots of lions, tigers, panthers, leapords or any of the big cats, they work too! Whether it's cute kitties or prowling hunters, farm cat or city kitty — if it's feline-based you're good to go. We're even looking for girls in cat suits! So what's new, pussycat? This month 1650 investigates the fascinating world of this complex and fascinating creature... THE CAT. AWARDS: Best In Show, 2nd Place and 3rd Place will be awarded and posted online after the show opening. Award winning photos will be featured on the show page and Best In Show winners will have a small portfolio of their work (up to 10 images) featured in our 1650 Spotlight gallery of photographic excellence. Awards winners will also be featured in our 1650 Gallery newsletter, which is broadcast via email to our mailing list. Getting the word out about artists we're excited about helps you do more great work, helps us show more great work, and helps keep the often insular world of fine art photography more diverse and vibrant.

Urban Riche Gallery- Black & White Competition/Exhibition

Online Event - Contests, Juried Art Shows - Acrylic, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Drawing/Illustration, Mixed media, Oil, Pastel, Photography, Watercolor Online Gallery

Photojournalist Ted Grant famously believed that "when you photograph people in color, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their souls!" For some, the black and white image can spur nostalgia but it can also reveal power and form that would otherwise be lost in color. The painter Yves Klein believed that the use of one color, or tones of that color, produced "absolute freedom" in his work. Although this freedom may have scared him, he was not afraid to ask, "Why not?" For those artists not afraid to go without the full spectrum of colors at their disposal, we have created the Black & White Exhibition/Competition. Created as a follow-up to our Spectrum exhibition, that features the very best artists using color in their work, Urban Riche Gallery is putting out an international call for artists who produce the best monochrome or black and white artwork in the world. The subject matter and medium of the work is left to the artist. We are accepting art of ALL MEDIUMS for a juried online exhibition running from April 1st-30th, Urban Riche's Black & White exhibition will feature the very best emerging and mid-career artists from around the world. Open to artists 18+ except where prohibited by law. The prizes will be distributed as follows: Best in Show -$500 cash award. Best in Show Runner-Up-$250 cash award.

wet plate - Call for Photography

Contests, Juried Art Shows - Photography Art Gallery

Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work for "wet plate" to A Smith Gallery by March 21, 2016. The collodion process or wet plate collodion, developed in about 1850, replaced the first reliable photographic process, the daguerreotype. The making of wet plate collodion images is a painstaking process that requires the photographer to prepare the medium, expose it and develop it in situ. Wet plate renders images as romantically spooky time travelers. The entry fee is $30 for the first 5 images and $6 for each additional image. Thirty images will be selected for exhibition and shown in the gallery's "salon" from May 6 to July 3, 2016. Receptions will be held on May 28 and June 25, 2016 both from 4 to 7pm. A Blurb full color catalogue of the exhibit with all the accepted entries will be available for purchase. Awards are $325 for Juror's Selection and three Director's Selections each receiving an exhibition catalogue. Juror for "wet plate" will be S Gayle Stevens.

PH21 Gallery: Call for Entries - The Cat Show

Calls for Submissions - Photography Photo Gallery

A juried international photography exhibition. April 14– May 3, 2016. Some may think that snapshots of cats are only for the fleeting moment, that photographs of cute kitties and lone predators are only taken to bring a quick but passing smile to the face of the viewer. Others may cherish the photos of their pets for sentimental reasons but may not think that those images are of any interest to others. And then there is an army of feline devotees out there who flood every possible outlet with an overwhelming amount of cat photos and videos. Cats rule. So much so that sometimes the sheer quantity of feline imagery may make us forget what lies at the heart of this obsession: the quality that the cat offers by offering itself. The history of photography, however, teaches us that even the greatest masters considered cats a worthy subject for their camera. Brassaï, Henri Cartier-Bresson, André Kertész and Edward Weston, just to name a few of them, all had captivating photos of cats. The bar is set high, and contemporary photographers have been keeping the trend alive ever since, exploring new directions and new possibilities in the process. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition called The Cat Show. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who are interested in cat and feline photography and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. We welcome submissions from all photographic genres, and we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.

Photographer Opportunity: Photo Independent Art Fair 2016

Calls for Submissions - Photography, Video/Film Other

Are you interested in building your photographic career by getting in front of the right audience? In the past, galleries played an important role in representing and nurturing artists. However, that system can no longer support the amount of good artists who seek representation today, or who are working in unconventional media and forms. Through Photo Independent, artists can directly present and discuss their work with curators, gallery directors, dealers, collectors, editors, publishers, writers, educators, and cultural organizations, those who seek to find, invest in, promote and support the finest established, emerging and undiscovered artistic talent available today. Applications are now being accepted for Photo Independent 2016. The ground-breaking art fair returns for it's 3rd edition! Photo Independent, returns April 29-May 1, 2016, at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, California, an art fair where individual photographers present their work to thousands of visitors in one weekend. What previous exhibitors have to say: 1. "My booth at Photo Independent got me a two book deal with Schiffer Publishing. AMERICAN CARNIVAL is coming out later this year followed by THE GREAT NORTHWEST… and if those go well, we are planning a series of six more regional photo books. This is a kind of dream I 've always had. Photo Independent made it for real." - David Skernick, USA ……… 2. "I love Photo Independent! I believe artists should develop their own lists of contacts and collectors to empower themselves so they can become less reliant on dealers and galleries for their livelihoods." - Elisabeth Sunday, USA

3x3 International Illustration Show No. 13

Contests, Juried Art Shows - Acrylic, Digital Media, Drawing/Illustration, Mixed media, Oil, Pastel, Watercolor Other

Time to enter the one true international illustration awards show. Open to all illustrators in all countries. There are a lot of reasons to enter: § Judged by leading design directors, art directors, designers, editors and publishers from across the globe. With more art directors than most shows. Alongside equally distinguished illustrators. § Work is judged independently over a two- week period so there's no chance for undue influence over who gets in, and who doesn't. § Winners promoted directly to art directors who receive a free eBook edition, a link to our online gallery and a discount on our print edition. § Distributed to leading bookstores and newsstands worldwide so even more eyes see our winners. Not every show can say that. § More categories than any other show so your work is judged with related subject matter. Instead of just editorial, we break it down to specific types of editorial. So portraits are judged with other portraits. Or lifestyle with lifestyle. § Three different shows, professional, picture book and student work are judged separately by our jury panel selected by this year's Show Chairman, James Yang. No other show has the breadth of entrants or winners. Last year our winners represented forty-five countries, including our first from China. Since 2003 we've produced award-winning annuals that art directors like to see. And use.

PH21 Gallery: Call for Entries - Black and White 2016

Calls for Submissions - Photography Photo Gallery

A juried international photography exhibition. May 5–31, 2016. At the dawn of photography black and white was the only available way of capturing photographic images. The technological constraint had a profound impact on the early development of the medium as photographers had to adapt to the specific means of black and white photographic depiction. Today, however, black and white is a creative choice, and understanding that choice is an important aspect of interpreting and appreciating these works. The emergence and development of colour photography has not made black and white obsolete, and it is exciting to see how contemporary photographers keep turning to the shades of grey, and how they find renewing and reinterpreting the rich tradition of black and white photography appealing for their twenty-first century creative pursuits. PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for a group exhibition themed Black and white 2016. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who work in black and white and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. We welcome submissions from all photographic genres, including abstract compositions. We are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.

Create Art: Change Everything

Online Event - Other Other

Jerry's Artarama started out to prove that artists are passionate about what they create and that art should be a part of everyone's life. This past year we launched an exciting campaign to energize artists to share a very special Facebook post centered around the concept, "Create Art, Change Everything". We asked everyone to share this post, comment on it, and challenge artist friends and those connected to the arts to help us get this shared in all 50 states. Help continue to spread the positive message that Art Changes Everything and please post your comment along with the state you are from. You may even get a $10 eGift Card from us! $2000 in eGift Cards to be given away! Keep the "Art Changes Everything" message going and please post your positive comment along with the state you are from. We will be giving away 200 × $10 eGift Cards throughout the year to help you Create More Art and Change Everything. (We will randomly pick from the comments on the official Facebook post, so please post there. *See web site for details and how to participate.) All of us here at Jerry's truly believe that everyone has the ability to and should create art. We know that art can and does change the world for the better.
