Spirit
of Place embodies
geography, connections, stories, memories and presence. To celebrate
our 40th Anniversary, we honor the spirit of place. From around the
globe to Midcoast Maine. We invite all photographers and all video
makers of all ages and abilities to submit your visual interpretation.
Landscapes, seascapes, people/culture, abstract expression - show us
what Spirit of Place means to you.

Jurors for
Photo Submission - Adults
Stacey
Baker - Associate Photo Editor at The
New York Times Magazine and a graduate of Maine Media College’s
Professional Certificate in Photography program.
Edward Earle
- Curator of Collections at the International Center of Photography in
New York. He has a degree in History from the University of
Notre Dame and an MFA from the Visual Studies Workshop, Rochester, NY.
Jessica May
- Curator of Contemporary and Modern Art at the
Portland Museum of Art in Portland, Maine. A specialist in documentary
photography of the twentieth century, she received her Ph.D. from the
University of California, Berkeley.
Tim B. Wride
- The former Photo Curator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and
presently the William and Sarah Ross Soter Curator of Photography at
the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Jurors for
Video Submission - Adults
Patricia
Luchsinger - Producer, NBC Today at
NBCUniversal, Inc., in New York City. She is also the winner
of 4 Emmys and a Gracie Award.
Ben Fowlie
- The founder and director of the Camden International Film Festival
(CIFF), a documentary exclusive event in Camden, Maine. He
currently sits on the Industry Advisory Board and Nominating Committee
for both features and shorts for the Cinema Eye Honors for Nonfiction
Filmmaking.
Laura Ozment
Schenck - Currently serves as Maine
Public Broadcasting Network’s Executive Producer of Television and
Special Projects. She is an alumnus of the PBS Producers
Academy and earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass
Media from Rutgers
Daniel Stephens
- A partner in the film production companies goodfocus,llc
and General Films, LLC and a member of the faculty at Maine Media
Workshops. He a graduate of Maine Media College’s
Professional Certificate in Filmmaking program.
Entry Fees -
Photo Submissions for Adults
Portfolio
$75 for each portfolio of 8-10 images
Single Image
Before December 15,
2012: $25 for 3 images, $5 each additional
December 16, 2012 through February
1, 2013:
$35 for 3 images, $5 each additional
Entry Fees -
Video Submissions for Adults
Before December 15, 2012:
$25 for one video, $10 each additional
December 16, 2012 through February 1, 2013:
$35 for one video, $10 each additional
Your entry
fees will assist others!
Two scholarships for
workshops (one photo, one film), for students in financial need, will
be funded by a portion of the fees collected.
